So, Tbbk and I head out saturday to look at a supposed full-sized upright Dig Dug that was listed on CL along with a few other machines (include 2 minty pacs; 1 Ms Pac and 1 Pac that we didn't get
).
They were moving and it was an obvious case of the wife selling off the husband's collection... The husband out cutting the grass with a perturbed demeanor, the husband not wanting to go down at all on prices...etc. Poor guy! I feel bad for him. You could tell this was his personal collection and he'd not sold a machine before, most likely.
Back to what happened. When we had got there, the Ms. Pac had been sold for the listed price of $225 to a local reseller/mame'er (who will most likely mame/put a bootleg multi-board in the Ms. Pac >.<) who beat us by like 10 minutes so, we didn't get it. The minty Pac which was also listed at $225, apparently had a down-payment put on it already so, it was "sold". I am guessing it was bought by a guy the wife had told me was coming by friday night to pick up a pinball she was selling.
It kind of frustrates me to no end that someone had placed a down payment on the Pac because when I talked to her, she didn't want to hold the dig dug or any machines... >.<. Had she accepted down payments when I talked to her I would have given her a big down payment for her whole darn lot of machines LOL. Her prices were very good and Tbbk & I could have turned a nice profit. Their lot consisted of, 1 Pac, 1 Ms Pac, 1 Terminator 2, 1 Marvel Vs. Capcom, 1 dedicated MK I, 1 dedicated MK 2, 1 blue-cab DK, 1 DK Jir, and my dig dug.
Anyway, we went over to the dig dug and it was easily an 8/10. The only reason it's not a 9/10 is because some..."person"...put a free credit button right on the minty CPO... Nevertheless, we plugged it in and went to boot it up. The game came up but played blind. The wife was clueless why the monitor wouldn't come up and the husband, whom was more pissed, didn't know either. He suspected it needed a cap kit (which it does but that wasn't the problem). I am sitting there, subtle smile on my face saying in my head "Jackpot! Winner winner chicken dinner!" Luckily, Tbbk was much quicker on his feet and said something like, "Well, what do you want for it...given the monitor won't come up?"
The wife said, "I don't know... I'd do $150?" and Tbbk replied "How about we split it at $125?"
...
She agreed and I walked away with a very nice Dig Dug for $125 bucks. The best part? After getting it to where I was going to store it, we plugged it in and...BOOM! it booted right up, monitor & all. Tbbk has some pics of myself playing it that I am sure he will post once he sees this thread.
Here's the pics I took of it while it was on the truck.
