I am sorry, it is an 0886, I was reading it upside down. It is a custom 08 chip (Multi-CPU Bus controller Custom Chip 08)

I have a Dig Dug type b board.
It displays garbage on the screen for a second or so, then displays a message like:

2H

Then reboots and displays the message again, then repeats.

The chip in position 2H has the numbers 0886 on it.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

I think your display was likely "RAM 2H", in which case you need a new 2114 @ 7P, not a new Namco 08 custom...

You should perhaps invest the time in reading the manual:
http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Arcade_Atari_Kee/Dig_Dug/Dig_Dug_TM-203_4th_Printing.pdf

On (PDF) page 25, you'll see that in test mode, a display of "RAM 2H" refers to the chip at location 7P. The number and letter combo, in this case, doesn't refer to a PCB grid location, but rather a RAM bank number (0, 1, 2, 3 or 4) and a H or L to indicate high or low nybble (they're 4-bit RAMs).

There was just a thread discussing this in the past week or so:

You are correct, it was a 2H RAM message.

Thanks guys. I will replace the offending RAM IC and see if that fixes it.
