So I took another crack at some Dig Dug PCBs and this next one I have is throwing up a "ROM B" error, which makes no sense. Also, the screen is filled red, that eventually fades into green. Upon probing different chips, I find that all the 2114 RAMs are SCORCHING hot.

Do all the RAM chips go through a certain other chip that could be causing this? Or do I simply just have several bad 2114s?

My best guess is that someone has applied incorrect voltage to the board in the past and internally shorted out the RAM. I can't think of a way in which a logic fault would cause this to happen.

I agree, I've seen the same thing in the past with RAM in pinball machines.

All your RAM is dead, they run warm but by no means too hot to touch. For it all to die I guess someone has powered the board wrongly, or worse with polarity reversed.

Can you verify any of the EPROMs? They are a good indicator as to whether the whole board was powered up with reversed polarity, they rarely survive.
