...is brilliant. No, really.

Play it once or twice and get two or three levels in: seems like nothing special.

Spend hours playing it and, like me, you may find it's way underrated. In order to max out on points, there's quite a bit of strategy involved. In order to survive on later rounds, there's quite a bit of strategy involved. The levels are well-designed, and many have a puzzle element to them in terms of where you should drill and create fault lines. You have to be both quick AND smart the whole game.

Nabbing a ginormous point bonus by getting an angry pack to follow your lead and then dropping their portion of the island into the ocean is, quite frankly, a rush.

So, blah to the naysayers - this one's worthy in my book.

I agree Dig Dug II is a good game.

I still prefer the original, but II is definitely a good game.

I really like it too! Great addition to the 60 in 1. Did they ever make a dedicated machine in Japan? I know it is not a US release. Anyone ever convert a Dig Dug to one? This would be a cool game to do an artwork set for an original cabinet.

Does the original DDII run on the same hardware as DD? Perhaps someone could do a multi-kit but I don't know if there would be a big enough demand. - Mike

Dig dug II dedicated?

Was there a dedicated cabinet or was this a board only that was swapped into other cabs?

I didn't even know there was a DDII until I saw it in MAME. It's an interesting game, but it never really bit me (to get addicted). However, I know of a couple of teenagers that enjoy it. Heck, one wants to submit a record to Twin Galaxies!

In my Japan shopping adventures over the years I've never seen any indication of a dedicated DD2 cabinet. I've seen many kits that include the PCB, manual, and cocktail table style instruction cards leading me to believe that this was a kit only offering geared at being installed in a cocktail cabinet.

Not sure if I'll get stoned to death saying this, but it's on the iCADE 60-in-1 boards...
