Hello

I am thinking about creating a database of TV's, tubes, chassis' and their compatibility.

There are a few lists out there but I think doing it as a real database website could be fun.

I don't really know much about it though (semi noob). For example. If I do a list of tubes I could obviously note the size, manufacturer, etc. I was also thinking yoke readings. But do the same tube come with different yokes (if say 2 TV's use the same tube but not the same yoke).
Or maybe different arcade monitor manufacturers use same tubes but different yokes. If so this makes it hard to do a database.

I'm sure you have seen the Google Docs page. It would be nice but gathering and entering all that data seems overwhelming.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ph-otN27oZer7PGlg6IkacwA_Wpjoa6mbFpAr1qVpsk/edit#gid=0

Good luck though. It would be cool if it came to fruition.

i would agree and many others have tried it and there are threads here dedicated to it but they finally die off because of the amount of work and your data can be bad if you aren't verifying the data your given which can't be done.

BTW: to answer the OP question yes you could in theory have two tv's with the same tube numbers and have different yoke readings. may not be super common but it can happen.

Well obviously the community would have to contribute data.

I did not know about that Google docs.

I'm not sure if I should model the database to support different yokes per tube or if I should just ignore that occurrence. hmmm......

I'm thinking of allowing more than one yoke reading per tube. I could let two or more community members contribute their rating and maybe even do an average..
