Anyone know all the differences between JAMMA and JAMMA+?

Reason I ask, specifically, is that I've probably got an Ehrgeiz JAMMA+ board on the way. I'd like to be able to play the game, but dont' want to hack up a cab to do it. Does button 4 in JAMMA PLUS use the same pin on the harness as button for on NEO GEO cabinets?

Also, any risk of blowing up the board by using it in a standard JAMMA cab (or Neo cab with JAMMA adaptor)?

Thanks

In my understanding, JAMMA+ is for an extra joystick input like the rotary joysticks on games like Heavey Barrel...

It's for the 3 and 4 player Jamma games and for 6 button, 2 player jamma games. Heavy Barrel Rotaries hook up via separate harnesses to the board. I guess you could call that JAMMA+, but I don't think it is the definition most guys would use.

Bob Roberts definition: The answer, at least to my mind, is that it is nothing more than a standard JAMMA game that also has additional headers/connectors for other controls outside the spectrum contained in the main JAMMA edge connector. In other words, it is a JAMMA game or PCB that also has other connections (plus) that require wiring into your cab in order for it to work properly.

I was kind of agreeing with you, while at the same time making you look like a chump. Nothing to see here. Send me that UFO file.

By that definition, though, CPS2 would be JAMMA+.

The one JAMMA+ game I have at this point, Rampart, has button 2 (rotate) mapped to the Start button on each side.... So I'm thinking there MUST be a difference in the wiring itself. Maybe it can vary from JAMMA+ game to game.

Don't try and back pedal now.

Here's Bob's page: http://arcadecontrols.com/BBBB/plus.html

I'll see if I can locate the UFO file for you, if I saved it. You were so quick to hate it...

alot of jamma games are truly jamma +, kick harness on killer instinct and mortal kombat etc, that is the kinda thing that makes it jamma plus.

all jamma plus board should work in a jamma cab, but any buttons you do not have, and here for dont have wiring for, will ofcourse not work.
