Ok, recently picked up a good working 19" Neo Geo conversion and a Die Hard that has a great monitor but comes up with a cartridge error. I know everyone seems to hate those STV Titan Die Hard cabinets but is there any real reason for it? I was thinking about transplanting the Neo Geo in there and maybe using the conversion cabinet it came in for City Connection.

I'd try reseating the cart fist. If anything die hard is a cheap stv cart to replace. I think I have a few spares for my stv cabinet.

As far as using the cab for something else. Big thing is the cabinet is heavy and the metal base grabs onto carpet well making it hard to move. I have the base on mine but others seem to have taken it off on here. As far as converting it to a neo geo the only consern would be the location for the 4th button for player 2. It would be pretty close to the edge. That and it would be rewiring the cab(well you'd want to do that anyway if it is a multi slot neo geo as they are not jamma).

With the stv trash can cab(it was made by a company that makes trash cans) the other thing is that you access the main board from the back. For most this doesn't matter but for the systems that have multiple game carts(the stv included) its nice to have front access. The real neo geo cabinets, the atomiswave cabinet, etc have where you can lift the control panel and access the board to swap carts pretty quick. With the stv cab you need rear access. On mine I'm personally thinking of getting a multi jamma board switcher and just running multiple stv boards in it(seems like every time I get a new cart for it I get another board with it).

it's also common to pop one one the pins on the SH4 chip from too much flexing on the board.

I tried reseating the cartridge twice and that didn't work.

Cabinet did not seem heavy to me at all. We loaded, unloaded and carried 12 cabinets down stairs, into storage and into garages last night and that one did not stand out as a weight problem.

Forgot about that one.

Yea OP another thing I forgot to mention. With the stv I've personally found that you don't want the cart to be pushed all of the way down. If yours still has the plastic lock tab on it you want to install the cart till it snaps in then pull up a tiny bit(with it the locking tab still in the slot on the back of the cart). Seems to work better that way.

I actually was going to do this at one time but lost interest and gave the cab away. Here is the control panel I did for it
