Didn't know I would end the day with this at my house

Gotta love Craigslist and working from your house. I love it when I see a game appear somewhat near by and I can get it a moments notice and add it to the arcade. So this morning I had no idea that this beautifully conditioned Carnival cocktail table would grace my arcade. It is missing the joystick knob on one side and it has no sound, but the guy I got it from knew nothing, so maybe an easy fix. I did find the volume and it did seem to be turned all the way one direction so I thought I was going to get lucky. Turned it a bit and still no sound :( Anyone know what a quick fix could be for sound? And know where I can get a screw on joystick knob?

I loved this game back in the day, but can't say I've ever seen a cocktail version? Are they hard to find? I nabbed this one for $150.

That. Is. Freakin. Awesome.

Hard to find? I'd say so - and a great game that probably loses none of its appeal in cocktail form. You need to post a lot more pictures of that puppy.

First thing to check when there is no sound is whether the issue is the amplifier or the sound source. Do you get any crackling or hiss from the monitor that you can change the volume of? If you really do get utter silence then I would first check the speaker wiring, and then check if the 12V is working and whether it is getting to the amp chip.

If the amp chip is getting 12V and is either stone cold, or roasting hot after a few minutes being powered on then you have a bad amp chip. It is also worth checking the capacitors in the amp section of the PCB, bad smoothing caps on the 12V line can cause the chip to oscillate and roast itself to death.

When I got my Robocop, the guy said there was no sound. When I got home with it, I started at the speaker, followed the wire till it stopped where it had been cut. Then from the edge connector, found two more wires that were cut. Seemed like a match, soldered together and had sound. Hope it's that simple.

Thanks guys,

I am checking into it this weekend. It plays great though, but the sound adds so much to this game. I gotta get it working! Anyone know where I can get a screw on Stick knob?

Very cool! I've never seen a cocktail version either! Glad you were able to save it.

Nice pick up Mike! Lizard Lick, Paradise Arcade and a few others sell ball tops, but you might not find the correct size. You're probably better off replacing the entire stick.
