only to have it work out in your favor?
I was watching a Freddy: Nightmare on Elm St. pinball on the Rochester, NY Craigslist but it was a bit more than I wanted to spend. I offered the guy $700 on Wednesday and he said he'd think about it. Then he said if he still had it by Friday he'd probably take it.
Friday came and about 7pm he emailed saying someone just picked it up. I was a bit bummed and got thinking maybe I should have offered $800. The wifey and I like these hokey horror/sci-fi(or is it Sy-Fy now?) themed pins and this would have been just about perfect for us.
Fast forward to 7:30pm when I update CraigsPal and see an X-files for $1000/OBO down in Reading, PA. It's a bit farther for me than Rochester, but for $1000 I had to at least shoot off an email.
BTW, I should mention that the wifey and I are HUGE X-files fans... we have watched every episode at least 2 or 3 times. This would be *THE* perfect pin for us.
So I wait... and wait... and wait... and update CL to see if it's still listed and then I wait... and wait... and wait. *FINALLY* around 11:30pm I get an email saying to send my phone number and they'd setup a time for me to look at it.
Not getting too excited yet I shoot an email back and wait to hear back. I was half hoping they would call right them just so I could setup a time for Saturday morning. But no luck.
I wake up Saturday and no call... I eat breakfast... no call... I play around with the dog... no call... the kids wake up and I play around with them... no call... I tried "playing around" with wifey but she'll have no part of it so I wait some more... it gets to be about 11:30am and I finally get the call.
So I get the directions, hop in the car, get money, and drive 7-1/2 hours to get the game back here.
Funny thing is I don't know if I paid $900 or $880? I thought I counted the money out for the guy but I found a $20 in the car when I got home... and it was in the place I kept the $900 so I dunno? Either way we're happy!!!
It needs a bit of work, but nothing too bad and so far everyone loves it!
So... have you ever had a disappointment turn out great?
