Did My First Tube Swap! K4600 chassis to a G07 tube
Recently I was given a free game with a trashed cab. It had a k4600 in it, and after totally recapping it, it looked the same: no whites, and green overpowering everything. I was irritated that I had spent the money for the caps, especially when one was $4.50. Anyway, a while back I removed a tube from a dead G07 chassis, and it sat in the back of the garage. It had a lot of burn in, so I figured it wasn't worth saving. I never got around to taking it to the dump. For the hell of it, I wondered if I could swap tubes- something many of you probably already knew. Anyway I loosened the 4 main bolts, removed the neckboard and slipped off the convergence rings and yoke and it was free. I removed the yoke and convergence rings off the g07, and then slipped the G07 tube in it's place. An hour and a half later, it's looking halfway decent. The geometry is a little off (it sags slightly on the right side), and the picture is slightly off center... but the colors are awesome and the picture is really sharp.
Anyway this tube swap was super simple and took just a few minutes. Direct plug and play it seems. I do have a few extra wires dangling from the G07 tube though, that I should remove.
Anyway, maybe this will give a beginner some confidence.
