I am a newbie who is just entering this hobby. I recently purchased a Galaga machine and a very large showcase XMEN vs Street Fighter machine. After moving the Galaga machine upstairs, I had some pink hue at the top of the screen. I purchased a 12" degauss coil and followed the procedure on youtube, which restored the red colors perfectly. In my infinite wisdom, short for stupidiy, I decided to degauss the 33" showcase crt too. This didnt go very well. After the degauss, all my whites are now pink. Did I just ruin a monitor? If I am an idiot for doing this, feel free to say so - just do it nicely please.

Thanks everyone

Chris

Also turn the game on and off a few times.. It's got it's own degaus coil built in. You can also move the game around the room a bit, that sometimes helps with magnetic field issues.

I think I may have bigger problems. I went into the service menu and looked at the color bars. I have no green at all. I have a broken screw on the case, so I cant get to the PCB and harness. I am going to go up and pick up some drill bits at Lowes, so I can get this panel off. Hopefully the green wire is loose and this is a simple fix. If not, can these CRTs be repaired or is this montior off to the dump?

I did the old fashinoned fix and it worked. I rocked the monitor back and forth and now I have proper colors. I do have some pincushioning. I messaged Modessitt who is an hour away in Austin. I am going to see if he can come down and service the monitor. Having it bounce around in the back of the truck from Dallas to San Antonio surely threw things out of alignment.
