Did I just stumble on a Dig Dug Irish Cabaret?

So I saw this game for sale online apparently nobody wanted to buy it before me. I could see that it was in rough shape, and I did realize it was an Irish game because it looks different than a regular Dig Dug. But I didn't realize that this might be a cabaret as well. For some reason, I thought the cabinet also had the Marquee below the control panel. According to the pictures, do I have a cabaret? It does have some moderate water damage towards the bottom and sides those areas would have to be replaced. And of course, someone replaced it with a Karate Champ. At least that board works, but I wonder if it's worth redoing the cabinet especially with the moderate body work it's going to need. And if I do restore it I want to go ahead and do the wood grain paneling or should I just slap on the U.S. side art?
Thanks,

Actually the Irish cabinet is slightly bigger than the US cabaret and smaller than the Full size cabinet.

This can be confusing because the Irish factory did produce some Cabaret cabinets (ex Asteroids), but many uprights came in unique, smaller cabinets. The latter are NOT cabarets, just smaller uprights.

Rule of thumb is 5' and under is mini. This holds for all golden age machines, but the later '80s Sega machines were a little taller.

OMG! That looks amazing! I plan on turning this one into something cool. At first I thought it was too far gone, but I got a pulse and instead of being a mortician I started investigating and it looks like I can bring it back with some moderate work. Can I ask what revision board that is running? Where might I get the art decal? I might be getting ahead of myself but I want to bring this back to original status. Along road for sure, but I want it to have the woodgrain and decal. Anywho DD is bad ass and this is unique.

Wood grain sides AND side art looks great!

i'm not confused at all, it's:

1. def made in atari irish factory, no doubt about that
2. way over 5' tall, so it's definitely NOT a mini/cabaret
3. it's not a smaller upright either, look at how it TOWERS over the Nintendo cabs OH MY!

what else is there to argue about here!??!

I want to get that side art for mine when it is ready where did you get it? Was it orginal?

Sorry for the late reply! The art is repro and made (as mentioned above) by the thisoldgame site.

I spotted a flyer with the euro cab on, which had the art installed:

and then zoomed in to see it's placement:

(about level with the back corner).

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. To me, it looks a bit different thank the cabaret side art. If it is truly different then I 'll hold off but if it is the same I'll hit up Rich. when I am ready to put on the side art. Monitor has now been rebuilt and sprayed with magic fairy dust.

I have changed my mind I believe that the side art is exactly the same as the Cabernet unless someone can prove otherwise.this last photo although not the best is the best evidence so far. I will be getting ther side art once the other cosmetic issues are addressed.

I went through the same thoughts as yourself and after doing much research, it just looked all right and as it should.

After looking at the original flyer (posted above)

and then using google to thoroughly search KLOV with various keywords (atari/euro ireland dig dug etc..)
Some threads popped up that helped me decide. The main one being:

https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=295820

The zoomed in pic that I posted looks like a yellow arrow pointing towards the lower left with some pink/red above and below. Which is how the cabaret art looks :)

Update on my Irish cabinet. I have replaced the bottom, and some of the sides and stripped everything out to do so repopulating now. Novis the backglass. welded CPO and applied new CPO art will repair the wiring harness. Got the monitor rebuilt and running this will be full steam before I know it. :)

Thank you for the vynal pic it helped. I did find a suitable vinyl for it, but I have not found a Namco board. I had a couple of people claim to have one but they basically just gave me the run-around. So at the moment I'm just going to play my 60 in 1 in it with a Namco classic adapter until I can find a suitable Namco board.
