I think I might have just bought my first game. According to the seller, they have a Punch-out that plays perfectly and the only thing wrong is the top screen is a little fuzzy.

$100 out the door. My plan is to probably work on this one and sell it, not sure though.

Any ideas on the "fuzzy" screen issue?

My top monitor was doing that when I got mine. A cap kit fixed it. Good luck!! Why sell it? Buy a game you want to keep. Just a thought.

I know, I know. I love this game, but I'm currently self employed and my business has slowly been going downhill, solely because of the market. It's a landscaping business and the economy has created nothing but cheapskate customers and "I'll mow this 5 acres for a 6-pack". Making money this year has been hard and it doesn't look to be getting any better. So I'm looking for another opportunity. I'm thinking I could fix this one up, sell it off, turn that money over into another game and go from there.

It mainly depends on what I can find at the auction this weekend. If I find some good deals, then this one will defintely stay as the start to my personal collection.

Hard to make money in this hobby unless you are a lucky SOB. Hobbies and profit are hard to put in the same sentence. This hobby has been a drane on my pocket book. But, it's something I enjoy so o'well.

punch out is a keeper, and you'll never find a better price..

Keep it.. buy other shit cheap, then turn and burn it (SFII anyone?).. next thing you know, not only will you have paid for your punchout (and you'll be the coolest kid on the block), but you'll be able to afford a half rack without even getting grass on your flip flops.

Excellent choice on selling, Punchout is not much fun long term. Fix the game up and you will make some money selling it and get two better games :)

I also work in a bar a couple nights a week. I may inquire about putting some machines there too. Not sure I want to deal with the upkeep though.

If you don't own it yet, you shouldn't be posting about it. Some low-life on here has already offered the guy $150. :D

Buy it as soon as you can! Tell us about it once it's yours, and we will help you fix it, and convince you to keep it. Do you have an empty garage or basement? Start planning ahead! ;)

That might be worth it if you can find games that people are willing to drop quarters into on a frequent basis. Don't forget about permits and taxes though... Otherwise you could end up with more bad stuff to deal with. ;)

And don't forget about drunks beating up, spilling, puking, etc., on the machine. Upkeep on machines at a bar would be the suck, I think.

Its almost 2010. No one in bars care about arcade games anymore.

Craigslist

Someone around your area is checking out all of the craigslist listing now.

Sports Bars and other neighborhood bars in this area still have arcade games. Granted, no "classics" but I have seen the multi machines. Games are still played at bars.

I'll agree with you to some degree, but we're right down the street from Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen. They have Little League tournaments almost every weekend and we get hundreds of kids in there every week who do nothing but drop dollars in the 5 machines we do have. Not a one of them has had an issue since we opened in Feb. The games are off to the side, so the drunks tend to forget about them which is good. But you're right, adults don't seem to care too much about the games.

I do have a open basement with a workbench and a 20x40' garage, so I've got tons of room for everything I need. I've also got a ton of tools, so I think I'll only be needing a couple of items (a new soldering iron for sure).

I'm sure you all can tell that this is somewhat new to me, so dropping this $100 is my way of testing everything out for business purposes. It's an extremely minor investment, so if it doesn't work, then I'm not done for. I'm surely going to be building my collection as I go though. Video games have always been in my life and now that I've got the space and the money (and no sucky wife anymore), I'm doing things the way I want.

so do you have the game yet? Or has someone just said hey it's yours for $100? If it's not in hand yet you don't have it and should make a serious effort to get it before someone else beats you to it.
