I picked up an Atari Arabian yesterday and can't seem to find another cabinet like it. It has a speaker grill above the coin door and it's covered by a wood block on the inside. I'm not sure exactly how the serial # sequence works but I'm thinking this is #25?

Anyone seen another cabinet like this one? I know Dig Dug, Kangaroo share the same cabinet as Arabian but again I can't find any pic's of one with this extra speaker grill.

(EDIT) The Model is #40600 & Serial Number is UR02500, it's pretty hard to get a clear shot of it.

no clue on why the cabinet variation but I believe atari was pretty good at labeling their games if they were a prototype. I know older titles that were protos were labeled as such on the serial # tag.

Actually I seem to recall that Atari serials are usually sequential and prototypes usually had prototype serial numbers. Anyway, Arabian was developed by a non-Atari company so there probably wouldn't have been any Atari prototype machines to begin with.

The speaker grill coverup is probably just because the cabinet shop was reusing a front panel that was left over from the Quantum and Black Widow cabinet production.

The kit millipede into arabian I just sold also had a wood block covering the lower speaker. The serial number is intersting in that atari only made 1950 arabians.

Since it has an amp bracket on the side, I would think it was a quantum.

If its a proto, look at eproms and harness tags. Hand labels are a good sign.

Yes, but they may not have started the numbering at 1 or perhaps the 1950 number is wrong.

Ya I wasn't sure about the front panel but that thought had crossed my mind too, the bracket on the side of the cab was for the Disco monitor but mine is a GO7.

It was the serial number that really threw me, 02500 out of 1950 units? Still a pretty rare find if nothing else and all of the serial #'s match too :)

my disco monitor chassis is right on the frame.. why would it have Amp brackets on one side? side shape isnt quantum.. probably a left over Gravitar front panel, qauntum panels were fused white with the silkscreening directly on the panel.

Wow... He is trying to find out some info on the game he found. If you can't find anything to say besides that don't bother posting.
Ooooh, ya got me, bro! ahahaha! I won't post anymore... Oops

Actually, I think it's a valid question. Sorry if you didn't like the way it was worded. Have fun!:)

My bad. It would have the deflection board on the left too if it was an amp setup. In all my years of collecting, I have never had a disco monitor that had a chassis mount on the side.

And if he did get a prototype... what? Is it worth more? Should it be in the Smithsonian? Wha?!

I have no idea on that one, just has had my curiosity going and the fact that I could not find a picture or any other info on this extra speaker grill then looking at the serial # and seeing 02500 and reading there was only 1950 made got me thinking this might be one of those early test games they place in select places to see how they do before going into full production.

I'm completly happy with my new game and care less if it's worth a ton or not just wanted to share and get some feedback if anyone else had a cabinet with this front panel or some insight on why this one is different from the normal.
