Was about to do a BIN on an item on eBay and noticed instead of the BIN button it now has an "add to cart" button instead. This new addition requires immediate payment versus before where you could basically arrange payment later via cash etc.

Now I don't want to do a BIN and pay immediately because its a 0 feedback seller. Always have to be cautious of this.

When did they change this just bought something with BIN like last week and it was the old system.

I bet the auction had a Buy it now . Theres alot of those on ebay anymore.

On the search function it says Buy It Now. Then when you click on auction it says "add to cart". When I did it goes right to payment screen. Im not going to pay a 0 feedback seller money without talking to them first on phone/email.

There's an item I've been eyeballing, and it still has a "buy it now" button (just checked)

It could be a scam. Does it bring you right to the checkout and say this seller requires immediate payment? I would try to contact the seller to change it. I have had this happen but its usually with smaller items that get shipped from a factory.

When I click on "Buy it now" on that auction you just linked, I'm taken to a confirmation screen that gives me 2 choices: "commit to buy" or "bill me later"

Not me it adds it to a cart like if you were to shop at wallmart or target or something. So if I wanted to buy it Id have to pay right now. I dont know whats going on every BIN now says ADD TO CART.

I belive the Bill me later is a new feature from Paypal... I think i saw it last night when i was making a payments for some parts.

As a seller you can require immediate payment when Buy It Now is used.

winner! I do this on some of mine to keep people from taking a week to pay for a $10 item...higher dollar stuff i realize people might need to get the funds together...but cheap stuff i usually require payment...cuts back on headaches.

Yeah, I started seeming some BIN items requiring instant payment some time ago (maybe a year).

It used to (I think) say something somewhere like, "This seller requires immediate payment blah blah blah."

Yeah. This basically makes ALL BIN auctions immediate payment required now.

Got an answer from ebay answer center.

It sounds like you have been "opted in" to the new eBay Shopping Cart. More info:

The eBay Shopping Cart eliminates virtually all unpaid items for Fixed Price listings. Fixed Price items added to a buyer's cart but not paid for remain available for other buyers to purchase—your listing stays active until payment is sent.

A limited number of buyers can opt in now to try out the new eBay Shopping Cart. It will be available to more buyers in the coming weeks.

But the OPT OUT is not working for me :(

Exactly. I use immediate payment now for every BIN item I have. Cuts down on the bogus bidders who "win" just for giggles then never pay. And, of course, we can't neg. 'em.

Dog, I HATE eBay.

btw just so everyone knows.

once your "opted in" (and in my case ebay randomly selected me) you CANNOT OPT OUT.

This explains why some ppl have this issue and others do not. In most cases I always pay immediately but on arcade games/pinball etc where the price is rather high I prefer to atleast lock down the item and discuss payment options with seller via phone/email.

I am unable to do that now which kinda sux.

Based on all the recent changes with eBay, it seems to me like they would much rather be seen as an online store where you list items at one price a al Amazon Marketplace, and less like the auction site they once were.
