Did anyone hoard Vision Pro 19" CRTs?

I have a couple still in the box and a few slightly used on my monitor shelf waiting to be used. I think I bought the new ones for $100 each plus shipping years ago. The ones on the shelf were basically new but sans box when I got them. I also have a couple of 13" ones on the shelf as well if I remember correctly. I really need to go through my monitors.

I bought ten 19 inch Vision Pro's and 10 13 inch Vision Pro's.
I have two left of each.
I wanna say I paid $150ish and $125.
I have a new one in my Gorf and in my Dig Dug cabaret.
I may put one in my Jedi soon.
Last one might go into my Tapper.

I purchased a pallet of KTN-2001s from CasinoTech I believe over 11 years ago. The monitors appear to have been made in 2000. I traded one off years ago, but the rest sit in my basement waiting to be used. I'm considering selling a few to free up some space.

I picked up the phone in 2009 and called Wells Gardner and got lucky with a warehouse open box. 19" Wells Gardner 19K7302 (Vision Pro clone) and I remember I got it for $150. I sold it about 4 years later to a local KLOVer for more than twice that much. I should have kept it.

My only issue with vision pros is the scanlines are really thick. It looks a little funny and I prefer a k7000 or sanyo but overall theyre damn nice. Also they used cheappppppppppppppppppppppppppp capppppppppppppppppppppppppppsssssssss.....

Picked up two in 2006. One for my Final Fight (which I'll be repurposing for my Toki), and another for my Arkanoid: R.O.D. Since HAPP has a branch near where I live, I didn't have to pay for shipping. One was around $140 and the other around $110 I believe. Love those monitors - very vibrant picture. Wish I had grabbed more of them.

From my understanding, Vision Pro monitors were just re-branded Kortex or Tovis monitors depending on when it was made. Vision Pro may sound better verbally, but it just a re-brand.

I picked up 2 VisionPros, one Betson Imperial and a makvision 24.8 tri-res during those close-out days. Also bought one of the last new tri-res 19" monitors directly from Wells Gardner for <$200.

They are still sitting on my shelf. Like someone else pointed out, I'm hesitant to use them for anything. That might be the definition of hoarding!

I have a great use for that Makvision if you want to sell it.

...these are desirable? Every single one I've come across had crapped out.

yeah the idea sounds cool to have a nib monitor, but I'd take a rebuilt g07, or k7000 tube swap every day of the week over a vision pro.

G07s with light gray tubes are probably my favorite as they seem especially bright, or actually it's probably just that they were in 80s games I played and so they look like they way I remember playing them. For games like Centipede and Dig Dug that do not have tinted glass, it's nice to have a light gray tube so they look the same when turned off. I've been hording fat neck TV tubes for swaps. Once I complete some more restores I'm going to swap lots of G07, 4600 and 4900 monitors on hand, and k7000s also.

4600's should go straight into the trash. Everything else is a good idea. :)

I may agree, actually 4600s can be a bit troublesome. My factory white Galaga with over 200,000 plays on the counter is still using it's original 4600. After a cap kit it was good to go. The width coils, and riser cards have caused me headaches with other 4600s in the past.

I just find them to be a massive PITA to do a cap kit on, and wish SOMEONE would repros the width coil.

I have a Tovis in my Multi Williams and Sanyo in my DK.
I am happy with the Tovis.
I also have 2 more Sanyo's sitting on a shelf in the garage.
One Sanyo is going in a DK restore one of these days.
All have been recapped and tested.
