1. Without naming names, did anyone you know hoard VisionPro 19" CRTs in the early 90s before they were discontinued?

2. Anyone remember these monitors being sold at that time? Remember how much they were going for in 1990 dollars?

1.No, just bought one that I never used till a little while ago.

2. I think they were under $200. I know I bought mine for $165 when they had a special.

Early 90s? Do you mean early 2000s? 19" K7000s were still popular in the early 90s.

I never bought any though... I remember going to Coin Op Warehouse in the early 2000s and seeing a bunch of them. IIRC he was selling them for $140 (which I thought, and still think, was way too much to spend on a 19" CRT).

I remember Happ selling them for $165 on special. Seems towards the end they were always on sale. I guess they were trying to sell out their stock.

If you knew then what you know now....you would still be doing what you are doing...that sum.it up?

;)

And at the end there....i picked up about a dozen at $105 shipped from Betson. Used them all too. Good days!

Grrrrrrr ....

happ had them on clearance for 70 bucks in the last couple years but if i recall correctly they only had stock in vegas.

I don't know where the thread is, but someone on klov said they bought dozens of CRTs (I thought from Betson & Happ, too) when they announced they wouldn't be making CRTs anymore.

And in typical klov fashion, a bunch of people laid into him for spending $100/each or whatever he spent. I wonder who that was and how many he still has...

I bought one new one when it was on sale price, and it sat for years because I couldn't deem a game worthy enough to have it.

The last new monitor I bought was back in 2002 when I was building my Astron Belt. I looked back at my old web page for the Astron Belt and this is what I wrote back then.
" August 1,2002 Happ Controls put their Vision Pro 19" monitors on sale for $164.99 so I ordered one and with the Tax and shipping the total was $193.15 which ant bad for a new monitor."

I bought a pallet from Beston before they stopped carrying them. I think I paid $120 each
That was back in 2009 though
Still have 5 or 6 left

I picked up 2 VisionPros, one Betson Imperial and a makvision 24.8 tri-res during those close-out days. Also bought one of the last new tri-res 19" monitors directly from Wells Gardner for <$200.

They are still sitting on my shelf. Like someone else pointed out, I'm hesitant to use them for anything. That might be the definition of hoarding!

I bought 4 Vision Pros back in 2009 and still have 2 gathering dust in our spare bedroom.
Like others, been waiting for that special game to install them in.

I purchased a new 19" Sharp Image for $125 in 2008 and a 19" Wells Gardener for $175 in 2010. Took me a while to figure out which games to use them in, but eventually I put the Sharp Image in my scratch built data east cabinet, and the Wells in my Pac-Man/multi cabinet. They still both work great. Since then, I have run across several nice Vision Pro/Wells Gardner 7203/7302/7200s with burn-free tubes that I've paid no more than 20 bucks apiece for.

I think I paid $300 for a new WG 13" two years ago. Crazy money but an amazing looking monitor.

I need !!

I was hoarding them when they were $99 just in case they stopped making crts which I figured might happen since nobody bought or really made crt TVs any more. I lived in a townhouse and my wife convinced me that was silly. So I got rid of them. A few months after I got rid of my last one in like 2009.. they stopped making them! I was so pissed off.

I didnt buy any but I know someone who bought a pallet of them and I was able to snag a few years ago.

I have one in a cab I got from coinop, it looks damn nice. Didn't know they were all that special. What's the going rate these days then..?
