Some guy had 6 games for sale, asking $150 each. I called and talked with him and he said he'd take $100 each for them. I thought we reached a deal in principle for 3 of them contingent upon pictures of the cabinets to make sure they weren't rotted out. I was supposed to receive the pictures by Tuesday, but nothing.

I call Tuesday afternoon a couple times, no answer. So I leave a message to call back. Nothing.

I call a couple times Wednesday at the 2 different numbers listed. Nothing.

I called one number today, but no answer. I *67 him (apparently that still works) and he picks up after a couple of rings. I say hi, introduce myself and that I'm calling back about the games.

The fucker hung up on me.

He seemed like a nice enough guy when I talked to him but now he's avoiding me at all costs after 1 conversation and an email asking if he'd be interested in a trade (I even said I was just throwing that out there in the off chance he's interested).

Just wanted to vent and am wondering if someone swooped in and bought the lot or got in his ear and made him think he was sitting on a goldmine?

Your mistake was trying to do a deal over the phone and then making it contingent on pictures.

From personal experience and reading this thread pop up every other week or so on here I've found the rule to be that you show up with the cash, you get the machine. You don't, someone else will.

Not sure what people don't understand about craigslist. You show up with the cash, you get the machine. You don't, someone else will.

I understand plenty about craigslist. I also understand you don't drive 3.5 hours with cash in hand hoping someone didn't get there 3 hours before you.

Then you should probably limit your craigslist searches to areas in a distance you are willing to drive just based on an ad or conversation

...I'm just saying, save yourself the headache and bad feelings of stuff like this happening...we've all gone through it, it sucks.

Typically the threads I see are people actually talking to the person in one way or another and finding out they sold it out from under them. I just find it odd they are doing everything they can to avoid saying "sorry, I sold the games."

But I understand where you're coming from. I didn't mean to sound snippy. It's late, I'm tired.

This isn't my 1st deal gone bad. It's just the way it has gone. I've had plenty of good deals to make up for the bad (someone held a red DK for me until the weekend at the agreed upon price even though they got higher offers).
