dick millikan

so how many of you have been screwed around dick millikan

I assume you mean screwed around/over by Dick Millikan.

not me

He has fixed a ton of crap for me, got me a working great swordsman board I may never have found otherwise.

From my perspective, one of the best guys out there.

never, and he's always given me great service. but then again he lives about twenty minutes from me and i'm always dealing with him in person.

And also post in the proper sub-forum... friggin n00bs

Well, right now it's just an ugly open-ended question.

Please post a complaint or this thread will be closed.

i was referred by several people that dick millikan was the person to send my pole position boards to. i contacted him and tlod him when he was ready to get ahold of me and i would send it to him, once he contacted me i sent it to him once i got it back it worked perfectly and still does, so i sent him 2 other board sets which he evidently can't seem to fix i've sent them to him 5 different times with the same result everytime, but in that process i'm out $400.00
so to make a long story short he intends on returning my boards he can't fix and wants to reimburse me less than 1/2 of what i've paid him. evertime i recieve the boards back from him they are tested in the same cabinet that has the 1st board in it he repaired.

I've had several boards fixed by Dick. On a couple occasions it took a while and I had a couple that developed issues quickly but he always took care of it. I am lucky enough to be able to take my stuff to him. Great guy. -Barry

i don't really know what the deal is, seems like a nice guy and i never try to talk bad about people but this is totally out of hand. i'm just trying to find out if this is common for him or am i just one he decided to rippoff

i bought my 1st arcade game 16 years ago and i've met alot of nice people and dealt with
several people in the business that were topnotch, i hate to say this but dick millikan is one of the worst people i've ever dealt with

I'd be careful using the term "rip-off". Sometimes, you just have boards that can't be fixed. I would assume he wants to keep half for his time and labor, which seems fair if he tried to fix them. I dunno.

Agreed. I don't know him but I know that when I used to do computer repair, I charged for my time, not on whether I fixed the problem or not. People knew me by reputation and felt I was their best chance at a fix. I couldn't always fix the problem and it was always the people who didn't know me that ended up feeling I ripped them off. I quit doing repairs when the costs of a new computer/part no longer justified the cost of my time in repairing them.

From what I've heard over the years, he's one of the best guys around for working on that particular board set and I don't remember seeing complaints on his work in the past.

To be fair, he's working with parts designed to last a few years at best. Those things are 30 years old and may be beyond repair.

If he is not making the same repairs over again then I don't think you have a valid complaint. If you've sent it in several times and it is a different repair each time then you've just got a lemon of a boardset.

well i use the term rip off, you would think he would let me know they were unrepairable
instead of emails saying i must have missed something or send them back they were working when i sent them and continue to take money, maybe ya'll see it differently but i run a business and in my business i do charge people but it will be fixed right or i will fix it till it's right and not keep charging them and i guess there is no warranty on his work, believe me i understand what ya'll are saying.

it was 2 different boardsets not just one and like i said should it take 5 times and more money for him to just say they are unrepairable, i understand the parts are old. maybe i'm oldfashion were people stand behind there work and i guess it's just not that way anymore

so if boardsets like pole positions are unrepairable how many of you have your pole position boards just sitting around due to the person repairing them telling you they aren't repairable

There aren't enough details in the thread to come to any kind of a conclusion on my part. But I can say in general that Dick has a sterling reputation for repair.

that's okay, i've got a dozen emails showing he's a liar and a cheat. you would think he would be on here defending himself but the truth would prevail

Oh boy, 8 out of your 15 total posts are bad mouthing Dick. May want to calm it down if your first major post is taking down a KLOV member who has help a lot of members with board repairs. You are losing rep fast.
