I just bought a addams family pin for cheap. It works great, but the playfield is dirty with a bad touchup job in two areas. It is diamondplate with extensive mylar over it. In the center of the playfield with the orange sun, the mylar has a section missing, and the wood playfiled has been touched up with paint. The paint has faded to the wrong color. It is near the magnet burn areas. I heard there were stickers to cover this up. Anybody heard of TAF playfield stickers?

Should I remove all the mylar on the playfiled, do paint touch up, and re-clearcoat the entire playfield. Will paint come up with mylar removal on a diamond plate playfield?

What type of paint should I use for touch up? Do you spray or paint the clearcoat on? What type clearcoat do you use? Do you have to strip the old diamond plate clearcoat off, or do you just go over it with a new layer of clearcoat?

Also, some of the diamond plate clearcoat has fine cracking. Do I sand it lightly, and reclearcoat? I do not want to damage the painted artwork below it on the playfield.

I am new to these kind of repairs.

Thanks,

Rick

i dont have diamond plate experience, but on my Bally star trek restore i used sign enamel on the touch up areas then sprayed auto clear over the entire PF. on yours - maybe just the enamel and rattle can lacquer to mask just the touchup areas? or use mylar over the touchups.
i would NOT attempt to sand the diamond plate. or remove existing mylar unless it is it really bad.

pics might help with discussion.
