So now I'm building this new computer I got I really wanna get back into some pc games. I remember playing diablo way back when with two of my buddies. We would always bring our computers to each others house lol. I never played diablo 2 and remember 1 but not to much. I wanna pick up 2 this week. Is it worth it ?

Also reading about 3. It looks amazing but who knows when its coming out. Anyone looking forward to it ?

Diablo II is awesome. Get the kit that comes with the Lord of Destruction upgrade. Free online play. You'll be hooked instantly. I still fire it up and play it occasionally.

I figure Diablo III will be out sometime towards the end of NEXT year. Blizzard has never been quick about getting a game finished...

They used to sell a kit at Wal-Mart that had Diablo, Diablo II, and Diablo II LOD (expansion) in it for about $30.

I played the original Diablo a lot, but since I played II, I never played I again.

BTW - the expansion gives you 2 more characters to play. Make sure you go online and check all the Runewords and Cube recipes you can do to make cool stuff...

If you like Diablo - check out Torchlight as well. It isn't multi-player, but it was made by some former members of the Diablo team, and it is everything good about diablo except the multi-player.

Supposedly Torchlight II is coming out soon - and I thought I heard it will be multi-player.

Hmm. I've tried other "just like Diablo" games in the past - Sacred, Titan's Quest - but none have ever stuck. Maybe because it seemed that the weapons and skill progression didn't increase as rapidly or as well as Diablo did. It sucks when you progress through a lot of the game, and hardly ever find anything worth using that is better that what you start with. To me, it's all about finding the good loot (once I've finished the game)...

I don't do PC gaming, but I really like Diablo-type games. I wonder if there is any chance of Diablo III coming out on a console. Probably not.

Diablo 1 came out for the PS1. My little brother had a copy, but I never played it...

Yeah, Diablo for PS1 is one of the uncommon titles.

And yes, Diablo II is awesome. The pack they are talking about at Wal Mart is called the Battle Chest. I have one. It comes with Diablo, Diablo II and the expansions/strategy guides for both.

Diablo I and II were both awesome games. When Diablo III comes out, I plan on taking a few days off from work.

I'm hoping it's still free to play online, and as I don't do subscription games, although I told my wife it would be my first one if it is.

I don't like that they're talking about capping the character level limits at 60 like WoW. Everything I've heard about WoW makes it seem too easy to get to 60. Now, getting to 99 in Diablo 2 is harder than hell, especially for single-players like me (I don't like playing with others)...

I'll second this. I think it's a bit more "simplistic" than Diablo is/was, but it was a very enjoyable game, especially when you can get it for like $5 a few times a year.

Diablo II is an awesome game. Graphics look rather dated, the pseudo 3D effect looks a bit clunky, but the gameplay and replayability more than make up for it.

We recently had another play through of the whole game from start to finish including the expansion pack with 7 players over a weekend.

If you're a fan of Diablo, another one to look into is Titan Quest and its expansion pack. Excellent graphics, and loads of skill trees to mix and match. The company that made the game went under unfortunately, but it's still available cheap. Well worth a look.

If you never played Diablo II then it should be good for you to try out. Going through all the difficulties and getting the stuff you want is great.

I played it for about 7-8 years. The reason I won't play again is because the amount of people I know that play still (1) and what I want to accomplish. I played ladder for 5 years and I made all the best builds (IMO) and got all the great items. I quit because I ran out of things to do.

Hopefully I can post some old pics I saved (I have more if you want to see)

awesome, however I realize now I cant play it untill this new pc is done, which will be the end of the month. I need a copy of windows and some more DDR before I can make it my main. Soon though. soon.

Diablo II is awesome. There are a lot of mods out there for it, that add monsters, items, new areas, etc- in case anyone is interested. One of the best things about it is the ability to run it well on older machines. I have a Mac Mini G4 with a 1.42 processor, a gig of ram, and a 32 MB video card, and it runs it at full speed. It's great that Blizzard released an official patch a year or so ago that lets you run the whole shebang without a disc. The LOD expansion is well worth it.

Diablo III needs to be nothing like WoW...
