I just picked up a Capcom bowling that is in need of a trackball repair kit, but, where do I measure to determine correct trackball size that is installed? I think it is a 4" but I want to be sure before ordering parts...

I believe you measure the diameter of the trackball.

I bought 3" bearings and rollers from Bob Roberts and I'm very happy with the purchase.

Measure the size of the ball itself. The common choices are 2 1/4" aka 'mini' (the size of a cue-ball in pool), 3" 'midi' (juggling balls are supposedly often this size), and 4.5" aka 'maxi' (the same size as a 'candlepin' bowling ball).

I'm given to understand that Capcom Bowling is usually a 3" ball.

Once you know the size, you can order appropriate rollers, bearings, and balls from someone like Bob Roberts or RAM Controls. If the shafts are worn, you'll want to replace them, and you should think about doing the bearings as well. I didn't in my last rebuild, and I'm not sure that was wise.

Thanks. It seems as though I have a 4" ball. Now, I am assuming this is a Capcom ball as I think this may be a dedicated cabinet, but how can I tell for sure if this is a Capcom or a Atari trackball? I looked at pictures of the kit and they look the same to me...
