Demo Man Pin

If the adult roms are installed can they be enabled and disabled? I have kids but would love to get them?

I love my DM. Was the first pin I got. Yes you can disable the Adult Parts of the ROMs. Once installed the Machine will go to free play only. And the adult stuff is pretty funny. Ie hit the tilt bob and is say F*** you. And when you Tilt it adds Punk A** Mother F*****.. And a couple others. As others have said John Wart Jr is the man When it comes to these things.

As for Mods, you can sometimes find new eyeballs for the left hand side, but to too many other mods I've seen. I need to get off my butt and clear the credit dot on mine (wire came off a standup, i've been too lazy to get in there to solder it..).

But enjoy the game, I love the flow of it compared to the LOTR sitting next to it which requires much more precise shooting..

I love the intro to demolition time, Especially when Playing in a dark room. Illuminate....

SO i finally picked up my demo man today 3hr drive and no issues getting it home and to the cave. BUT.......as soon as i turned it on the screen has horizontal lines on it that stay on, sound is shot with random sayings, left flipper not working but top flipper does. i have waited so long to get it here and now its not playable.

there are about 6 errors that are on the test report as soon as you turn it on.

i have one that i rescued from an OP

it sat under a hole in the roof for unknown amount of time
badly water damaged cabinet but suprisingly, the playfield isnt too bad

glad to hear it's a fun game as i'm dying to get to it. not this winter but maybe next winter...

Did a little trouble shooting and checked all the connections on the board and dont you know it now it works fine, so happy :)

everything working that was not, now i just need to play it to make sure all is working.

Gets such a bad rap for the backglass which is too bad. I had one, and it's definitely on my ''again'' list. Such a fun and fast flowing game, very smooth and best of all, great music. The finale music is some of the best ever in pinball imo. The best mod is probably just to led it.

Thanks, James

Yup, a clean DM is a fast and fun game. I don't own one, but ironically I do own a lighted, framed DM translite(!) It was a gift from a friend. (I may try to swap it out for another translite hanging around here...) Of course, I far prefer the DM translite to the one on my WPT. :D

so played it tonight for a while with the claw not working and its starting to reset on me when i hit both flippers. both on the handles and buttons. this is not my first pin but never had issues with my Junk yard. i played several games tonight with no issues the resetting just started. when i tested the game before i bought it i didnt see any of these issues. I guessing that there might be a fuse issue that might be causing it to reset but ive never really had to do much trouble shooting with my first pin.

switch 26 L claw
switch 35 trough 5 left
67 elevator index
74 elevator hold
81 claw capt.sim
claw error disabled.

so i went through the machine and got ride of all the errors and checked all switches. Doing that i must of done something and now game plays fine with no resets and claw is working fine.

Now the only thing i can not figure out are the flashers none work and i just noticed when going through the lights and replaced a couple. Anyone one have any ideas?

speaking with the OP regarding the constant resets he suggested that it is a power issue. That the pin is not getting enough from the outlet i have it on. Is this something that could be an issue? I have another williams pin JY but never has reset on me.

I have tried the pin and some days i play all day with no issues (Afternoon)and the next day i cant hit a flipper with out it reseting(evening). Not sure if time of day has anything to do with the reset but looking at all areas.

Also the OP said his tech suggested that something be changed on one of the boards to lower the poer consumption so it will not need as much, does anyone know what he might be suggesting? and would this be a last resort?

its possible the electrical issue IF you have other pwer consuming applications on the same breaker, I E washer and dryer... try playing it with the other pin OFF to see if it resets

if not the case then you very well may have to replace the bridge rectifiers, specifically br 2

The resets are caused by the 5v line dropping low from a bad BR1 & BR2; those are the bridges on the main board. It will happen most often when they are marginal and the game is under load such as the playfield being busy.

The rest of those issues listed are going to be garden variety cold solder, switch adjustments, and dirty optos.

I loved my Demo Man but the crane modes should have had more balanced scoring, as it was, Museum Multiball was the one to play for points and that ruined the balance. Someone should edit a block out for each mode once completed.

ive had new outlets placed in my basement and the plug has its own breaker and still does it. But its just od, that at times i can not play at all and others play several full games with no issue.

How much would i be looking at for changing out those bridge rectifiers? so i kinda have an idea on what im looking at when i speak with the OP on this.

the large board in the head is the power driver board, there are a total of 5 bridge recs on it, the are silver usually and are square, br1 an br2 are in the upper right hand side of the board, there is a heat sink connected to them as a pair, the bridges themselves are not expensive , but that board is easy to damage the traces on, i recommend having someone with experiance doing it unless you feel you can, usually a board repair should be under a hundred, or you can buy a rottendog replacement for 250 new

I'm betting it's the large capacitors on the driver board. Replacing the ones that were out of spec has fixed 3 or 4 of my resetting driver boards.

I kind of like the simplicity of the backglass. I know about the problems they had with Wesley Snipes and that there were many revisions, but I still kind of like it. The playfield design is a work of art and is probably Nordman's most ambitious layout.

so i left it on today just to test it a little more and while i was making lunch it starts to reset by itself with nothing being done to it. it was on for about 1hr. im hoping its just a simple change out of was discussed.

just be very careful in removing the old components as its easy to damage the traces!

as i said before its likely a bridge issue but as someone else pointed out it could also be the 15000uf 25v caps, they werent designed to last beyond 10yrs, and while they have been better than that they will dry out! i actually bought them in a lot of 50 to combat the issues going forward

so here is an update on where i am with this. the OP with his tech said that they will change all 5 bridge rectifers and all the filters On the board. COsting me about 100$, there was no way i was doing that myself. He is doing this to the demo man he has and swapping boards with me.

Still need to see when this will happen, soon i hope.
