I bought a Demo man pin today but wont be picking up for a while till i get my basement in better order. I want to know if anyone has one and what mods can be done to it. This would be the first pin that i will doing any mods to (currently i have 1-Junk yard pin) . Getting led in it new rubber rings and so on...any ideas are welcome and if you could give prices on them aswell would great. thanks all

Peter

Gets such a bad rap for the backglass which is too bad. I had one, and it's definitely on my ''again'' list. Such a fun and fast flowing game, very smooth and best of all, great music. The finale music is some of the best ever in pinball imo. The best mod is probably just to led it.

Thanks, James

I picked up a DM last month and love it.

Not sure what mods you can do to this but I know you can add the swear roms. I ordered it and came in 9 chips and plan on installing it after the holidays. I want to spent the time off enjoying my pins instead of troubleshooting them :)

Nice to know, where did you get those roms? would they be a simple install?

I cant wait to get mine, so while i wait ill get stuff that i need or want to ad to it.

Thanks for the comments

The gentleman's name is Dave Astill and he is based out of Collingwood, Ontario according to the return address. I sent him money via paypal and less than a week later I got my roms in a nice padded envelope. Here is his email:

[email protected]

Another place you can get it is from hobbyroms.com but the guy from that site was straight up and said I'd be better to get it from Dave since he does it for cheaper cause the type of chips this machine uses is expensive. I paid $45cdn shipped for mine and hobbyroms was $70 shipped.

Installation is pretty straight forward as Dave will email you instruction and tips. The only thing if you have to be careful removing/installing the chips to make sure you don't bend any legs and in turn damaging the chips.

might want to try john wart jr at ''thatpinballplace.com''
Addams gold roms were $15, i bet he can hook you up for less

I have a DEMO MAN. Great game!

I have the "adult" roms installed and I have LED's under all of the inserts on the playfield. Other than that, I don't know of any other mods for this machine ...

It's a fun game, but it needs to be in a large collection. It's very shallow for home use, I'm afraid. Love the ramps and theme.... but not enough going on to keep it fresh in a small collection.

thanks ill give him a shout. I have one pin currently "Junk Yard" Looking for a johnny nmumonic as i played before and enjoyed. looking for others but getting a collection of pins for me will def take some time. The area i live they are more expensive than what i have seen poeople on this site and others sell for. I would love to get some pins i have seen for sale in the states but the shipping alone puts me off.......But ill take what i can ge here for now and improve the pins i have and getting. What site is good to replace items Like the handles for DEmo Man??

THanks all

Don't try to replace the handles, get them Z-plated. It's the only way. I had a Demo Man that the handle were AMAZING looking, and they were z plated. Also, they will never wear out, unlike the originals. Replacing isn't a viable option.

If you look on the site, you will see already plated handles for 190!!!! You can have them done for less than that, of course. But hey, if you want to buy new ones, these are what you want.

Wow, that mod looks stupid. But hey, people do strange things to their games.

Freezepop, I just bought a Johnny Mnemonic, and I LOVE it. Very fast, and deeper than DM (but the ramps aren't nearly as fun to hit... very few ramps are as smooth as DM). The glove and the spinner have GOT to be working well on that game to have fun, otherwise I can see why people would pass on it. And for those that say "spinner rape"... heh, for me, raping the spinner is like its own mini wizard mode. It's hard for me to get it lit and keep it lit to abuse it. And you can't keep relighting it over and over. Once the ball is out of play for it, you have to move on to more awards. Every time I lose the ball when my spinner is lit, I always let out a huge, frustrated sigh, since I never get to nail that shot enough times.

those lights look nice.....to many pins that i want not enough cash! I figure if i can do one two a year till i get the ones i want i should be good. what are your thoughts on these machines

Street fighter- Im a fan of the entire series and most my cabinets are fighters.

these are a couple im looking at but interested in the movie themed Pins.

JM was actually my first choice for my first pinball. There was one I found on craigslist and emailed the guy with a few questions at the time but I wasn't quite ready financially or had the space in my game room yet. When I was ready I emailed him to see if the machine was available cause I saw it was still posted a few weeks ago but sadly it was sold. Then he mentioned to me he had a friend who was a fellow collector and might be interested in selling his DM and it was all set after that.

The same person that sells the lighting mod for DM also has this mod for JM

In regards to movie themed pins did you ever consider T2? I've never played a T3 before but what I can tell you is these newer Stern machines don't play or have the same feel as the older Bally/Williams machines. If you can find a Shadow that is another nice one or else Congo is good and very under rated too!

Same guy that im buying the Demo man from has a T2 but when i want to check them both out the T2 had no sound and Supposedly he had his tech go through it so im pretty hesitant in considering that one. but for the right price i might but DM for now. Ive played Shadow before and enjoyed it but have not seen any in my area for sale.

Well if this is going to be your first pin you will probably want to buy a fully working one and save the troubleshooting issues for later when you feel more comfortable working with them. My DM had a problem with the top ball trough not recognizing whenever the ball got dropped in and I would have to wait a few seconds for the table to look for the stuck ball and it would kick it out. At first I thought it was a bad switch and unfortunately the area where the ball trough is buried under all the ramps so I lifted the play field up and boy was I ever overwhelmed!

I unscrewed the assembly where the ball dropped in and turns out one of the wires broke off so I re-soldered it back on the PCB and was good to go!

The only thing left to fix on my DM now is some GI lights aren't working even though I replaced them with new bulbs. I'm told that the bulb socket needs to be replaced so I will get to that later as I tried to do some troubleshooting with alligator clips and a new socket and ended up taking out the ones that were working. Luckily it was just a fuse that I blew and after I replaced it everything was back to the way it was.

If the adult roms are installed can they be enabled and disabled? I have kids but would love to get them?

Yes they can be enabled and disabled in the menus according to my friend who installed them on his machine. Since the holidays are over now I might attempt to install them. I didn't want to risk screwing up my machine which would really bum me out for the holidays and my daughter's birthday.
