So I picked up a free 21" Dell computer CRT monitor that had discoloring in both lower corners. I tried manually degaussing it with a soldering gun with very, very little improvement, tried the internal degauss with no change. My last resort was to try and move the yoke. I pulled the wedges had some improvements but not enough and I could not move the yoke any closer. The rings all looked to be in the correct place according to the white marks from the factory. The only way i could make it look perfect was to put a couple magnets near both corners, but it went back to how it was when I turned it off and back on again. Any thoughts???

Maybe an actual degaussing coil would help. I had problems with a monitor in my cocktail machine and tried a drill and solder gun and it helped a little. I bought a coil from frys and the problem was fixed in an instant. - Barry

Ditto. I tried to use a powerful bulk eraser as a degausser based on the advice of some folks here and it did a shitty job even with many attempts.

5 min with a real degausser solved my problem.

Yeah, I think I will pick one up soon and see if it helps. Thanks!
