Degaussing problems ? What would happen if i ? ? ?

The degaussing coil on the monitor will prevent the monitor from getting magnetized by the earth's magnetic field (or other external sources). It should simply de-magnetize the tube, not "pull it back" to the way it was. The monitor's deguassing circuit will only activate when it is powered on and cold. If you move the machine, make sure to allow the monitor time to cool down before powering up, or the circuit won't be activated and you could end up with screen artifacts.

If you have been turning it on from cold and the tube is still showing signs of magnetism, then perhaps your circuit isn't working at all.

I hope this helps.
