Hey all,
Does anyone have a Degausser that they use to help the faded colors on the corner of your monitor? I know that each monitor comes with a Degausser on the inside of the cab along the monitor, but I am talking about one that you plug in to create a magnetic field and pull the color back to the screen. Understand what I am saying?
Where can I get one? Radio Shack and Micro Center don't even know what I am talking about.
How often do you use them?
Can they do any harm?

I got my degaussing coil on eBay. Most people recommend the GC Electronics 9317 model. The one I got is a little smaller (and was cheaper) than that, but it's worked really well all the monitors I've used it on so far. Usually you'd only have to degauss a monitor once, but some are sensitive to the earth's magnetic field and need to be degaussed every time you move them. The 20EZ in my DK Jr. is like that.

I think it's safe, but I wouldn't recommend holding one up to your private parts for very long, just in case.

LOL! Nice. Yeah I need to pic one up. I thought ebay would be the right place. For some reason my Nintendo cabs seem to do the worst with static electricity.
Thanks for the feedback!

I think I picked mine up at Frys, but Ebay and even Bob Roberts are good alternatives for picking one up. I need to use it on a monitor about once every other month, so it has paid for itself already. If you don't see a lot of new monitors you likely will not use it very often though.

Delroy666, thanks for the tip - Amazon had this for about $65, so I grabbed one. I have 2 tubes that need it, so I think it'll be a good investment.

If anyone in north metro Atlanta needs to borrow this (after Feb 15), just give me a shout.

John
