I have been talking to different people about the degaussing coil on a common monitor (like a WG 4900) and I have gotten different input.

So, I figured that I would ask the group....

I have a monitor that has a shorted degauss coil (less than 1 ohm and blows the 4A fuse) and started to check some of my other degauss coils. The resistance ranges from 8 to 15 ohms. So....... does it matter what degaussing coil I use for a monitor board (like a WG or Sharp)?????? Do the 120V monitor boards have different requirements than the 100V (Japan) boards?

Any input would be appreciated.

For a degauss coil the operating voltage is only approximate. I believe you should be able to use a 100 volt one on a 120 volt monitor.

Remember, the coil only operates for 1 second upon power up.
