My friends Defender was acting up so I told him to drop it off and I would see if I could fix it for him. You turn the game on and it comes up fine. But none of the controls work, coin mechs wont put a credit on it and the advance buttons on the coin door do nothing.Basically the game wont take any inputs. Sounded like a grounding issue to me. Replaced the plug, you know easy stuff first. Then ran a ground from the braid to the control panel to the widget board to the monitor, still nothing. Now I know the boardset is good as is the widget board because I had friend test it with his setup and it worked fine. I was told to check the voltages as that could cause this.Thats first on the list tonight.I also plan tying in the grounds I ran to the switcher. It does have the Arcadeshop adaptor for using a switching power supply with the origonal cabinet plugs. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance....Dave

The coin inputs come in through the ROM board, so try this to check for a problem there too. Take a ground from the power supply then, on the ROM board, take the plug connector for the coin door header off, and on the header ( on the ROM board ) tap the ground wire on the advance pin, or the coin inputs. Advance is pin 1, coin inputs are 3, 5 and 6. You should see coins or the test/settings mode. If that all works you've just got to track down where the break in the ground wiring for the coin door is.

Then check the ground (GND) connection for the control inputs. I'd bet you'll find something is not connected. Specifically check the continuity of the Orange-Black wire on the control panel to ensure it really is wired to the power supply ground. Brown-Green and white on the coin door should also be wired to ground.

Oopps.. Advance is pin 2 on the ROM board. Pin 1 is auto-up/man-down.

As you look at the ROM board the keying pin that's cut off is pin 9, and 1 is at the opposite end. So it's like this

10 (cut pin) 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
