Defender Wiring Loom help needed -info needed to construct new looms
Hello! For a a few months i have been looking for detailed information & specifications on the Defender Upright game. I have a boardset to test and house and i need wiring loonms to suit. I have as many of the printed & PDF'd Defender manuals as i can find on ebay and the internet, but i am missing some details so i hope someone can help!
My first task is to get the game board set working, and to this end i need a full set of inter board and cabinet wiring looms between the PSU, boards and the various cabinet components incl Marquee lighting, Monitor, Speakers, CP, coin door and interlock switches etc. to make a wiring loom set for the test bench.
I am therefore looking for more detailed info on Defender harnesses - I need to build three wiring looms for my Defender
boards as follows:
(i) a test loom (for the workbench),
(ii) a replacement upright cab wiring loom. I intend to rebuild my Defense Command Cab Wiring Loom as a standard Defender Cab Wiring Loom set, with adapters for the Defense Command Board Set. This way, i can readily change over & test my Defender boardset in the cab.
(iii) a new wiring loom set for a Defender Cab build project.
Also, I want to build these looms to original specs (plug types, sizes, pinouts, wire colours where i can and pin locations and genders within plugs) to enable plug and play retrofit of components as they are acquired and tested, for cab build/restoration purposes only.
I am also aiming to draw up a detailed specification and schematic containing the additional info not already included in existing defender docos and schematics, but still do not have quite enough info to draw up a definative document. So far, i have had advise that the 0.062 connector sets were used but my defense command cab has 0.093 connector sets. My recently acquired Williams 3 chute Defender coin door has a 15 pin 0.062 connector, and my Defense command PSU/AC connector is a 3x4 12 pin 0.093 connector.
Some answers i have so far (if any are wrong, please advise):
--------------------------------------------------------------
Q. What Connectors are used for Wiring Loom connections to and between CPU, ROM, Sound, Interface and Power Supply PCBs ?
A. Uses Molex 0.156" Connectors for PCB connections (various pin nos)
Q. Connecting Cables for Rom to CPU and I/O Interface to CPU, Ribbon Cable, 40 way and 20 way, with connectors
A. Socket Connector to PCB Connectors with ribbon made by CW industries, available from Digikey, see website page... http://onlinecatalog.digikey.com/Web...&PageIndex=36#
Q. 6J2/6P2 connector pair - 15 pin (3x5) coin door connector
- Is it 0.062 or 0.093 inch molex? As Per Dokert: Molex 0.062 15 pin connector
(my Williams coin door has that connector)
- Does the Plug use all male pins ? YES
- Is the Plug on the coin door side of the wiring loom ? YES
Some Questions i still need answers for:
--------------------------------------------------------------
What Connectors are used for Defender Cabinet Wiring looms for: AC to PSU connections, Hood lamp, Monitor, Speaker, Coin Door & Switches & Control panel etc ? Does anyone have details of each of the relevant connector pairs incl Make (Molex), Model (for each individual connector and/or current equivalent) & their specs such as dimensions, pin pitch and pin numbering ?
1. Make: so far we know that Molex connectors are used, both 0.093 and 0.062 inch series used.
2. 5P1 connector - 2 pin monitor ac connector - does this cable go direct from the 6P1 connector to the monitor chassis AC connector ?
Is the connector a 0.093 inch molex?
Is the connector a recepticle with socket pins ?
What is the Molex model no for the Connector ?
3. 6J1/6P1 connector pair - 12 pin 3x4 psu wiring loom connector
Is it 0.062 or 0.093 inch molex? - As per Dokert this is a 0.093 3x4 (12 pin) connector
Is the plug on the PSU brick side and does it use all male pins ?
Is the recepticle on the cab wiring loom side and does it use all socket pins ?
What are the Molex model nos for the Plug and Recepticle ?
Note: need confirmation of whether the pin genders are mixed in the plug (and if so, what pin nos & genders are used ?)
4. 8J1/8P1 connector pair - 3 pin hood lamp connector
Is it 0.062 or 0.093 inch molex?
Does the Plug use all male pins ?
Is the plug on the lamp side of the loom ?
6. 8J2/8P2 connector pair - 3 pin speaker connector
Is it 0.062 or 0.093 inch molex?
Does the Plug use all male pins ?
is the Plug on the speaker side of the wiring loom ?
Can anyone help to confirm connector details ?
