I had a defender that worked perfect. It had the old battery pack on the cpu board. I did the bob roberts lithium battery mod on the board. When I put it back in, the machine booted up into test mode. It says to press advance to do settings. I hit all buttons behind the control door with no response. I checked switches, and they are ok. It was on freeplay when I got it, and I never checked the test mode. Now that I changed the batterys, I lost the settings in memory, and I can't get out of a default test mode screen. Any ideas? Worked perfect before the battery conversion.

If your buttons won't advance through the tes mode, you'll never get back to the way you had it before. If the button registers as good with as meter, then you should go back to your widget PCB, the connectors there from the control panel, and the little ribbon cable to the CPU....

Well the advance, Auto Up, and HS reset all go through the ROM board, not the widget board. Still most likely a grounding issue.

I followed the green wire from the advance button to the pcb connector. I cleaned the pcb connection, and reseated the connector. Turned it on, and it works perfect. Got lucky on that one. Thanks for the help.
