Every once in a while my Defender loses all sounds.
If I turn her off and then back on again 90% of the time they come back.

Anyone else have this problem? I reflowed the solder joints and reseated
all the chips but it still intermittantly occurs.

thanks

i would replace electrolytic capacitor C13 and C14 on the sound board. look for any cold solder joints, on the header pins there, or anywhere there on the sound board. just replace all the electrolytic caps on that sound board while you have it out.

thats where id start troubleshooting.

Check the cable from teh sound board to the ROM board. Those IDC connectors were never meant to be in service 30 years later. I have had a number of them go "bad" as the wires slide back up the blades and lose contact.

Why do people not seem to get this? It is VERY common in Williams games.
