I acquired a Defender Cocktail that is missing a ROM. Pins broke when the previous owner was trying to reseat the chips due to a reset problem. Who are the recommended sources for ROMs?
I find that ROM 2 breaks legs most often for some reason.
I just had to burn a new ROM 4 for my cocktail. Had two different ROM boards, and both had bad ROM 4's.
Make sure you verify the color stripe on the ROM when you order a replacement, as they all have to match. Mine were red stripe, but there are other colors...
It is ROM4 that I need, pink color label, later version boards.
I'll probably order this one from HobbyROMs.com but also get a burner. One of my EE colleagues still has a couple of burners and a bunch of tubes of EEPROMs left over from a commerical project we did in the early '80s. I was always fond of the Data I/Os. Don't know what he has laying around...
You should have all of your other roms checked/verified while you're at it. I come across sooooooooo many older boards with multiple bad roms. Most can be fixed with an erase-program cycle but occasionally the roms are dead-dead-dead.
