Hi Everyone! My Defender game has started a wierd problem. You turn it on and it boots up great. After about 5-10 minutes it goes back to the "rug" pattern. and stays there. It looks to be cycling between 2 rug patterns. If you unplug it for a few minutes and plug it back in it sometimes comes back up or at the adj. screen. Any ideas? Thanks

That sounds like a power supply problem. Check the voltages. If you have a switching PS, you may need to adjust the voltages, they drift over time. If you have the original Defender PS, you may need to rebuild it.

Defender P/S

Does anyone on here offer the rebuild kit or is it a piece by piece purchase? If someone has a rebuilt one they would like to sell,Let me know,Thanks!

Bob Roberts sells a rebuild kit. Several of the members here that have stores sell all the parts to rebuild them. Ed at GreatPlainsElectronics.com (klov member GPE) has all of the parts and is a good guy to deal with.

If you would rather have someone rebuild it for you, I rebuild Williams power supplies. My charges are $20 + parts + return shipping. PM me for more details, if you are interested.

It may not end up being the power supply, but diagnosing always starts with the power supply. If you have bad power, it is very difficult to figure out what is going on.

I have a 3rd grade edumacation and know my adbc's.

the power supply is where I always start on any problem and is the easiest to fix.
