Just picked up a defender with original wiring and power supply. Is there an adapter to play the 19 in 1 boards using the existing cabinet wiring? or is it going to be less of a headache to carefully remove the original harness and just go jamma for a multi williams?

I'm going to try to use citristrip on the cab first to remove the ugly black paint, but if I get in there and it's too far gone, who carries the defender stencils? I saw a multi-williams stencil that said defender, but I think I like the look of the original cab better.

If you have done a similar resto/multi conversion please post some pics for some inspiration.

Thanks!

Check out my build thread for the same project, it should answer most of you questions

Pr0k sells stencils on his site and they are worth every penny they absolutely rock!

I rewired everything to jamma but jrok on the boards here does sell an adapter harness for his multiwilliams board and a defender cab.

My cpo was bought from Rich at Thisoldgame.

Have fun and post pic's of your progress!

Thank you for all the info gatordad! I hope my defender turns out half as nice as yours did. I'm going to take my time and will update with pics as it moves along.

Should be a fun little winter project.

I thought a 19-1 was going in and not a Jrok?
You just need to throw a jama harness and maybe a switching power supply for the 19-1.
Jrok no longer makes the adapter harness but there was a thread about someone making them if it is needed.

I guess i'm a little confused, I know the 19-1 is meant to go into a jamma wired cabinet. Is the Jrok board jamma only, and meant to be used with a special adapter for original wiring? Or does the jrok board need an adapter for jamma wiring and original wirng?

My board is 100% JAMMA, you only need an adapter if you want to use it with an original Williams harness. If you set the board to multi-WMS input mode you only need a JAMMA harness with 3 buttons per player. But you still need 6 buttons on the control panel for Stargate support.

Thanks for all the info jrok! Is it true that there is another run of your boards being made up? or are they only available on the secondary market?
