I am having some problems with my Defender. When turned on I hear no sounds... screen looks like the pics flashed blue and red with a similar patter. All 4 lights on the board are lit.

Can anyone point me to the right location to troubleshooting if its already been posted... or let me know if you have seen this. Thanks!

If you do a search for defender, there are lots of posts regarding problems. There are a few basic things you can do first. Do you have a DMM (multimeter)? Check to make sure all 3 lights on the power supply are lit, which I assume they are. Check the voltages of the power supply. Measure at the corners of a "RAM" chip. Push on all the socketed chips or remove and reseat carefully as not to break or bend legs (note orientation). Remove and reseat all the connectors, power supply, board and ribbon cables. There is no mention of what the 4 lit led's mean in the manual, which available free online. Do they blink at all when you turn it on or do they just come on solid? It's unusual for Defender to not even growl when you turn it on because Defender has it's own sound board. Do you get any sounds when you press the test button on the sound card? After having it on for awhile, try placing the palm of your hand over the boards chips and see if any of them are getting "HOT".

Personally, I think you have a problem with the "Rom Board". I'm no expert but I hope this can at least tell you whats "not" wrong?

Does this Defender have the original 4116 rams or the upgrades?
