Looking to purchase a dedicated MB, dude has one for $1500 but the marquee is cracked. Would this be a fair price these days? Thanks for any info!

Is it a bubble marquee? I bought a dedicated MB widebody w/ bubble marquee recently for 300 bucks which I most certainly couldn't pass up. I am not sure what the collector value is on them these days, but $1500 seems a little high for a regular one.

The price might not be too high if the monitor is crisp, for example, and the rest of the orange cabinet is decent with side art. What worries me is if the Marquee cracked then did this cabinet take a whack to the side or something that distorted the plywood? Good luck with your find (this or other).

If the machine hasn't been touched since 1983, they will typically look like this:

T-molding shot, CPO always torn about an inch and a half from the front edge with the bottom half missing, orange sides are generally scuffed, gouged and peeling. The black kickplates are always scuffed and beat up, especially around the speaker grill area. If the Sanyo EZ monitor hasn't been messed with, it will need a cap kit at the very least as you will see (at minimum) jail bars. In my day, when I bought three of these machines I spent around $150-$200 per machine. These days, I would think between $350 and $600 is a decent enough deal if the machine is in typical original condition, but working and restorable. After a full restoration, the price goes up significantly. The same machine you see above was restored by me:

IMG_3332.jpegI probably wouldn't let it go for less than $2000-2500 now as all the electronic and restoration work has been done. So that's why I said I'd need a picture or 2 to give you any accurate advice. And in my experience, I have never seen an original Mario Brothers widebody that didn't need restoration. They are always beat up and never in pristine original condition. I'm sure that statement could be proven wrong, but in my experience it never has.

That isn't a wide body? I thought it was, I'm going to look at it today anyways. I just keep finding dkjr conversions and I obviously would rather have room for a second player.

Quickest way to spot a widebody is the centered speaker grill and black kickplate.

Also, the widebody doesn't really have more elbow room between you and the 2nd player. I think the controls are technically spaced apart equally between games.

However, the widebody DOES have a taller control panel that is FAR more comfortable to play on, IMO.

Definitely not. That's a conversion cab. Priced about $500 too high. There is a nicer one down in Sturbridge right now for $1150 that you could probably get for a bit less.

Wide body also has the double stacked doors. This has the standard Nintendo door.

So the dudes parents bought it before he was even born and had it growing up and took it with him when he moved which is why the marquee is damaged. As you can see the monitor needs some attention but other than that it's in decent shape. I'm torn because I would rather have a dedicated one but at the same time this is local and in decent shape. What would you offer?

$800. There is one in better condition an hour south of you at $1150 that has been sitting for months.
