I am restoring and converting an old beat Vs. Cab to a Playchoice and am getting close to paint and vinyl, or so I thought. I noticed the 2 vertical mounting bolts on either side. Were these necessary? Were there DK/Popeye kits put out for these cabs too? I guess I am asking, was Nintendo offering ops the option of reverse converting these newer cabs to the older Ninty games? I think I am gonna bondo the holes shut on this one, as they will never be needed, but interesting if Nintendo was giving ops this option, no? Has anyone ever seen a DK series or Popeye installed in one of these cabs?

My guess would be at the time Nintendo figured if they ever decided to create/release a new vertically-oriented game, they could use the existing mounting system.

Yeah I thought of that too, which would have been sweet. Wonder if they had any vertical games in the hopper? Maybe some unreleased vertcal gems still exist out there in someone's old IBM.

I dont think they were necessary. Most of the dedicated gray's that I saw, were the SMB. Very odd. It's also odd that you have the screws in those 2 spots. Is it possible that a previous owner drilled them, to play DK or DKJR? Maybe. But looking at your pics, it appears the factory did it. Strange.

On a different note, I like the idea of the PC-10 going in that cab. I dig the Single Monitor version and it will look like it belongs in there, when you are done. Keep up the good work.
