Dedicated Time Pilot How Much???

I dunno, if he is the original owner and never routed it, making it H.U.O. it is very possible this thing could be in pretty damn nice condition.

But it isn't.

That being said, a "mint" HUO Time Pilot would probably go for around $500 - near what you said, I'm guessing, though I personally would value it higher. Don't think it would sell for higher, though.

My buddy and I just picked up a very nice dedicated Time Pilot a couple of months ago. We found it on Craigslist listed for $250 and ended buying it for $200. Great deal!, I would say it was worth at least $500.

The condition you are describing for that Time Pilot, I would say $200 at most. It will most likely need quite a bit of restoration.

Goodwill had one here for $100. Local collector got it. Apparently in really good shape. Someone mentioned it had a Monroe joystick - not sure about that. Gyruss was the only Centuri title I know with one.

People's psychology is a funny thing.

When a seller has a game that I value at $100 and they value at $800, I have learned not to even offer. I just tell them "Too pricey for me" and attempt to leave. They always say "well, make me an offer". I tell them "I would usually pay $100 for one in that condition, but I am sure someone will offer you more" and leave my name and number just in case.

I always let the other guys piss off the seller with their offers. Then, in six months when I contact the guy and bump my offer by $20, he doesn't have to eat any crow to sell to me.

I have been successful maybe 20% of the time doing this, and 0% successful trying to talk sense into someone.

what's the difference between a Monroe and a regular leaf?

Still setting on front porch, getting down to freezing temps here lately
:-( poor machine lol

I Called today for the first time in the 8 months and here's how it went>

Lady answered phone and i asked how much was she asking for it, she said in a nice hillbilly accent

"how much ya want for that machine!" to some man in the background>

man in the background>>> "$800.00!"

Then i said would you consider an offer, she said ill let you talk to him

Anyways he says its an antique, you cant find them any more. Then tells me the cold weather will not hurt it, and that it hasn't been exposed to any bad weather. (lie)<

I say well, its been setting on your porch for 8 months, and i don't want to see it rot away and the cold weather WILL affect it. ill offer $100.00

He then busts out laughing saying i can put it on Ebay and get $800.00 for it right now, no problem.

Anyways i say well id do that then if i was you....... thanks for your time

poor time pilot :(

It's doomed. One day he'll look at it, realize it's more or less ruined, and take it to the dump or smash it just so the bastards who didn't pay him his $800 can't have it.

When I come up against people and scenarios like this, and there's no changing their minds when I've given them a more-than-fair offer, I put in a little dig that I always hope they remember later on:

Seller: "Ha! I'll sell it on eBay for a gazillion times that amount!"

Me: "Okay. If that's what you want to do, good luck. But this is my one and only offer for it. If you don't end up selling it later, do NOT contact me about buying it."

Usually this really pisses `em off. But it gives them something "nice" to think about when they're sitting on an unsold item down the road. ;)

Wow, that looks like it's built like a tank. Is the shaft hollow or solid? Does it use the same ball & socket type of pivot as a Nintendo joystick? Does it use a spring or grommet for returning to center?

Don't feel too bad about it. There was a non-working but otherwise nice Time Pilot that came up on my local CL. I watched it for quite a while go from around $800 to $500, $350, $200, and eventually down to $150 or so... it sat there forever. I guess the guy just couldn't get rid of it. I guess someone finally took it off his hands, but it wasn't exactly in demand by any means, even with nice sideart.

Yeah, those situations are no-win. I think you did the right thing though. You may end up getting a call 5 years from now saying ok, come pick it up. Most likely you won't hear back. The deals are from the people who advertise them for dirt cheap just to get them out of their way. If it's been sitting for 15 years then they probably don't care if it sits another 15.
