Ok so i get a call from my cousins wife saying she knows someone who is selling an arcade. So i go and check it out today and find out its a dedicated Time Pilot. Pretty decent shape nice side art but faded to crap. Rust on some metal etc. Lot of cosmetic stuff. I couldn't test it because after she said what they wanted for it i left my number and rolled lol.

My convo>

"hello i was wondering what you were looking to get for the arcade machine"?

Lady > "he wants $800.00 for it LOL!"

me "WOW thats a good bit, would he consider an offer"

Lady . "well he paid $4,000 for it brand new! and there's no way hes taking less than 800 for it"

me > "well does it even work?"

Lady > "works great!"

So i left my number and told her $100.00 bucks lol. She said she would let him know. But ill check back with her in some time and maybe they will budge when reality hits them. Im sure it probably needs a full monitor rebuild, some paint, and new side art if available, but i believe its pretty tough to get side art for this one. But the side art isnt too bad just extremely faded to almost white.

Any ideas, suggestions, comments :)

Whats a good deal for one of these? I saw someone sell a decent one on here for $250.00. ?

$4000 holy crap! I could see that if it was an actual airplane cockpit and the windsheild was the monitor. I would give $200 for it if you really like the game and it's what you want.

Mine is for sale for $4000 as well if anyone wants it- I'll even make cut you a break and give it to you for $750!!

Seriously, I'd say $200-$300 depending on condition and how much you like the game.

cool thanks guys, yea i mean for one 1. If an arcade dont work there's hardly a market for it (at least where i live) 2. We are in freakin rural WV lol Mountains and Woods for miles. 3. 800 bucks is ALOT of cash for an old arcade.

So im gonna let them sit on it for awhile and check back in a little while with her.

Oh and i forgot to add to the story. She claimed someone came out and "looked at it" and said its worth 800 lol.

So im wondering who put this awful price in her head lol

yea i know i wont hear from them, nor do i want to lol.

$100.00 bucks looks like all it was worth. id maybe go $150.00 or 175 but thats about it.

But she wasnt listening to anything under 800 as it was, so i could have said $10.00 if i wanted too lol.

First off, if they guy bought it brand new it likely wouldn't have faded artwork or rust...unless he put it on location...in which case he's already made his $4K back and then some.

yea i dont know the real deal about it. It was rusty and faded artwork. Either way too much imo ill keep ya guys posted on how it pans out.

if it works great and has the original Monroe stick, no water damage and only cosmetic stuff (a bit of rust, faded side art, torn CPO) then $150-$250 in the current market. if it has black vinyl instead of the fake wood grain maybe a few $$ more as the black seems to be a more popular look and fairly rare to boot.

if it doesn't work then $100 or less, even with a solid cab, though if the monitor is real nice and you can see something on it to let you know it's working maybe a bit more.

$800? maybe for a nearly mint original or fully restored (though there is no side art replacement available) to a collector who's really into TP or Konami titles. and even that's probably pretty high.

i got one semi working for $100 in similar condition. did some basic maintenance and clean up on it and sold it a couple months later for $300. $800 is insane, even a mint one i dont figure would be worth more than $600.

GUYS!

LOL i seriously had to bring this thread back, just wanted to give a heads up the TIME PILOT is STILL SETTING on these peoples FRONT PORCH!!!!!

I just checked the date and we are going on almost 7 months here lol,

its been setting out on the porch with a "for sale" sign on it STILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I'm sure the dew, rain storms, hot 100 degree weather, critters, bugs, has really upped the value on it now lol at least its under a roof, but still close to the edge of the porch.

poor time pilot :(

Seller thinks the item is worth far more than it really is.

Seller gets offers way under what he/she was expecting.

So, instead of taking something for it, seller gets pissed and happily lets it rot.

People who do this are everywhere, and there's only two ways to deal with them: either pay them more than what it's worth, or mutually agree to let the merchandise go to hell because the seller is a moron. I almost always opt for the latter, because a moron loses out in the process, which somewhat restores a little balance to the universe. ;)

yep well said, well said.

Still sad tho cause it is right in the middle of town off a highway and it STILL hasn't sold, and i have to look at it like everyday i go through town lol

Some asshole posted a vid for sale about 2 years ago here. I responded with an offer about 1/2 of what his asking price is. Dude replied "I'd rather burn it on my front lawn than sell it to you for $XXX"...

...my response... "When you go to burn it, give me a buzz, I'll bring the marshmellows and weenies".

No... I didn't hear back from him.

If you're still interested in it, might be worth having a friend go by with a truck and offer cash in hand to take it out of there...

guys I have a friend who is ignorant like this..he is letting an Rtype go all to hell on his back porch instead of selling it to me for 175 bucks....pisses me off...

I dunno, if he is the original owner and never routed it, making it H.U.O. it is very possible this thing could be in pretty damn nice condition. I doubt thats the case though, but if it was a MINT H.U.O. Time Pilot has to be worth $500+
