Are you sure this is a "dedicated " Monkey Ball machine?

It looks like one that was made for a promotional contest and given away on the cartoon network.
Here is another thread where this was discussed:

I do not think Sega made "dedicated" Monkey Ball machines in wood cabinets for US markets but I could be wrong. Does this machine have a SEGA name plate somewhere?

No, it's dedicated. They had them at every Sega Gameworks and I own one myself.

Heck I can get another right now if I wanted to from a friend who is trying to sell one...

I did not mean to imply this was a one of a kind machine. I have seen a few of them around so I am sure that is not the case.
Does your machine have a SEGA game tag on it anywhere?
If it does please take a picture of it.

I have never seen a game tag or had anyone who can confirm this machine was sold in this form by SEGA in the USA. From the information I have gathered it appears these machines were made by Global VR out of Japanese monkey ball kits installed into their generic cabinets(pixelated inkjet side art added) and sold here to various arcades. I have never had a confirmation that SEGA made any kind of dedicated Monkey Ball machine but would love to be proven wrong or have any solid confirmation one way or another. Even if SEGA just contracted Global VR to make them it would be nice to confirm.

In Japan the game was only released as a kit. The closest thing to a dedicated Monkey Ball (IMO) would be an original Japanese kit in the Z style cabinet.

You have to understand that most of the these companies contracted out work for cabinets to be done. Hanaho Games did a ton of Capcom stuff; it's not like each company just made their own cabinets and that would be what makes them "dedicated" as such.

I think the proof is really the fact that Gameworks had these. It doesn't matter to me who made them or not, they are US dedicated Monkey Ball cabinets. You can make the argument you stated for ANY cabinet that was built. The ONLY place I ever saw this game on location was Sega Gameworks....

I know my sideart doesn't look pixelated at all...

Just because it may or may not have been "sold" by Sega doesn't mean it's not dedicated....

I am not trying to offend anyone or insult their game in any way. Just trying to gather information on this particular model of Monkey Ball machine.

If anyone has a SEGA game tag or original SEGA manual with cabinet diagram for this model please speak up. When I looked over the machine I found(identical to this one) it had everything it came with new which included a Monkey Ball "KIT" manual and no SEGA MFG markings or tag of any kind.

I'm sure it is what you are saying, a commissioned build of it to get it to the states, but it is still dedicated. It's not a listed Sega product in the USA.

Anyone know the dimensions of this cab? Seller doesn't know the width/depth. Interested, but only if it were to fit.

I am pretty sure it is the same size as this cabinet:

Watching how you operate for the last several years leads me to believe this entire discussion of yours will prove that you have an actual dedicated monkey balls (in your mind) that is now worth $2000.

You have serious mental issues.

I do not nor have I ever owned a Monkey Ball machine.

I asked my friend who has worked in the industry awhile before I left and came back and had this to say:

Admittedly, the Monkey Ball cabinets are not "normal" Sega cabinets in which I have ever seen another Sega game housed in. However, I can assure you that they are "dedicated". The side art with the 3 monkeys, game logo, and artwork is as dedicated as games get. Is it possible that Global VR (or we should say an early ancestor or version of the company we know today as Global VR) built these cabinets in a warehouse somewhere in California for Sega, but this is a common finding in the arcade industry. All the NEOGEO cabinets in the USA for example were not built by SNK or at SNK headquarters, they were built by a sub contracted company called K-FOAM or KOAM or something like that.

One last tid bit if I may to add even MORE to the validity of my information.
I was actually at and attended the 2001 IAAPA Show in Orlando, Florida where at the SEGA booth Monkey Ball premiered and was first shown to the industry. It was in those exact cabinets.

That pretty much sums up what I was trying to say, Dynamo, K-Foam, Global VR can make dedicated cabinets for companies. Absolutely no difference.
