I recently bought a MK1 cab i'm restoring and i need some pics of the rear door lock and the wiring layout for the slide out pcb tray. I'm trying to figure out how the harness was run by the factory. I got a couple pics thanks to Zenomorp's restore thread but i need MORE!!!!!

thanks guys :D

Oh also where do you guys have your ground strap connected on your control panels?

Restore thread will come in a few months most likely when i decide to strip the sides.

what's up no one has a dedicated MK1 cab anymore? what are all you peeps putting your boards in that i keep telling to get sound harnesses for?

Man zenomorp can't get back to the states fast enough lol.

I have a dedicated MK 1, but it was a deconversion project so the wiring isn't likely going to be just the same as Midway had it. I would hook the ground strap up to one of the metal catches for the control panel latches. Mine is probably missing any ground straps because of the conversion. I believe they use that silver braid stuff for their grounds.

correct silver braided ground strap, i appreciate the reply. I think i might have put together enough pictures to figure it out.

Just as an FYI, the original power supply for a dedicated MK would be the earlier, smaller "Peter Chou" type supply (assuming that pic is of your machine). That is the larger, second style that came out some time around the early 90's. Konami used them for most of their dedicated machines like Simpsons, X-Men, or Turtles in Time. Midway, for whatever reason, opted to use that older style.

yup me and mecha187 were talking about that, that is my machine and i'm already looking for a new one as this one makes some crazy fan noise when i first start up the machine (not to mention that it just looks completely out of place.

i'm debating between these two power supplies:

i guess the first one is the one i need but the 2nd seems to look more like the original (atleast what i've seen).

Still looking for good pics of the wiring inside this beastie.

Make sure the ground strap is connected to the cpo. I would take a picture of mine but I had no original harness and manually had to re-wire everything. I have a schematic and diagram(of original cabinet wiring, power supply, monitor, coin, jamma and sound board wiring) from the original manual in pdf form if you want.

The ground strap will definitely be connected once i figure out which control panel will spend the rest of it's days on there i just haven't decided yet (and need to start repairing all the MK1 cp's i have (3 of 6 need repair)lol).

I have the manuals, i didn't think they went into good enough detail but i guess i'll have to take a look again after some sleeps lol. appreciate the offer and the bump, maybe someone else will be nice enough to take off their back panel and snap some choice pics for me (of a dedicated un molested middle aged mk1 cab) :D

Hey Broodwich,

I have my dedicated MK1 cab but won't be around until maybe Tuesday or Wed to take a few pics.

I'll post a few then.

Here are the pics. Sorry I just noticed the camera was on 640x480. If you need something more specific get back to me. Now my cabinet came with the Y-unit but I put in a T-unit a few weeks back so you may notice the cables for the kickharness/cables for sound board are a tad tight because it was designed for the other board.

Also there is no lock on my back. Three screws! Really a lot of security :)

Thanks appreciate that, man i wish my slide out board panel would come out of mine, but i think it swelled or has a rogue screw/coin jammed in it as it won't budge more than 1/8th of an inch.

Thanks for the pics that should cover a lot of it for me.

Just get in there and you'll find some reason it won't come out. Maybe a screw. Hope it's not glued!

I've banged on it with a hammer and everything, something is off slightly with the cab as there's 0 clearance between the access door and the board that slides out of it

Hey Brood, don't mean to stir up an old thread, but got a few questions for ya.

1. Did you ever get your wiring figured out? I got a harness from quarter arcades site for my MK and need some help figuring how to route everything. Any pics would be appreciated.

B. did you ever get your slide out board panel to slide out? I have the same problem with mine. I can get it to slide about 1/4" then stuck. Beat on it with rubber mallet and everything, nothing.

Also, this goes out to anyone, I'm looking for a pair of smooth red 8-way joysticks. I have a thread under the wanted section for this, so go ahead and look it up if anyone can help! Thanks!

I haven't gotten around to replacing that harness yet believe it or not, many other projects kinda jumped ahead of this one and since the machine is 100% working i didn't really mind.

1. I actually picked one up from them as well, i've got a bunch of pics for reference.

B. nope, tried the mallet no luck either, i'm pretty sure it's just swollen and stuck as there are no screws holding it in. i might give it another whack tho as my dehumidifier has been running in the game room all summer.

Awesome, those pics help a lot. Thanks! Yea I can't find anything holding my slide out board back either. I guess it don't matter too much. Once everything goes in, won't be coming back out.

Trying to figure out now what to replace some of the .156 molex connectors with. Mostly for the control panel interconnects. Thinking about some .93 molex connectors.

yea the interconnects can be a pain, iirc i have a link to the male/male adapters that go in between.
