Newer style power supply installed, no conversions or anything. Power supply is almost turned up all the way.

Game title screen and high score lists come up then as soon as it tries to go to demo of one of the olympic games, it has a screen of ############### and DIP SWITCH SW on another screen. Any ideas?

First, set your voltage to between 5 and 5.2 volts or you will soon have a blank screen and a big repair bill.

Next, make sure the coin door switches (slam switch and test switch if it has one) are not shorted. If nothing else, just pull that part of the harness to take all of those switches out of the equation.

Next, un-plug your marquee light. If you have a bad ballast or bulb that flashes off and on it can cause voltage drops/spikes that force re-sets.

Last, clean your edge connector, lift and re-seat your socketed chips, and flip all of your dip switches off and then return them to their correct position.

I would be AMAZED if one of more of these tips didn't resolve all of your problems.

I agree, I have had issues when my hypersports or track and field is not set around +5.1 on the +5

I have this game and the exact same problem.

I adjusted the voltage on the switcher and it made no difference in the problem.

I am using it in a Track and Field cabinet - the Track and Field PCB works 100% in this cabinet.

I also noticed when the game is in attract mode that if you have attract mode sound ON it still doesn't work and the only event shown in attract mode is the weightlifting. In addition, sometimes the swimming event will start after you put in your initials but if you foul or the gun goes off then it resets as noted below.

Strange.

Ok, it's definitely a board issue. I have a spare Hyper Sports PCB and that had no issues starting right up. The marquee light should have nothing to do with it, so I'm going to clean the edge connector and reseat the EPROMS and try that in the spare HS cabinet and see what happens. If I can't get it to work, expect a board and marquee to be eBayed soon...

I'll be looking at this today. I tried getting as much done in storage as possible because I can't do ANYTHING in storage when I'm working in the arcade. I'll pull the PCB and clean it, reflow it, reseat the chips, etc etc. I can do all that from the comfort of the desk.
