I have a dedicated Capcom Bowling with the larger ball and it won;t read the up and down movement. the board doesn;t look bad at all for that particular movement. what can i do to figure out the problem?

The trackball has a roller that goes left right and one that goes up down, the board that the roller that goes up and down through is probably bad, or dirty, or disconnected.

well it is neither dirty and it is connected. where can i get a replacement board?
I ended up using a replacement trackball board from Happ. The only problem is it didn't fit the mounts for the original optic board. I ended up just resting it between the standoffs which honestly is kinda cheesy, but I forgot I did that until recently when working on the game. You may want to come up with a better way to hold the thing in place if you go with that replacement.

First: Clean the optics on the board with alcohol and q-tips.

If that doesn't work: Swap the plugs for the up/down and the left/right boards... If the problem stays with the board, replace the IC on it.

For what it's worth I'm selling a complete working Capcom Bowling kit with Trackball, PCB, buttons, Manual, marquee & buttons for $60 shipped.

That's only slightly more expensive than buying a new trackball!

i tested everything. its the board. how can i go about getting this repaired or even replaced?

Which board? The little one on the trackball?

If it is, just replace the chip on it.

yes its the trackball board. what chip? all i see on the board is the little piece that the wheel turns in. can anyone repair the board?

Dumb question, but the IC's on these boards should be the same right? I was just looking at the non-working original optic board I tried to fix. I was pretty green at the time with repairs and may have put the wrong replacement IC in. The thing got super hot when I plugged it in tonight.

i have no clue. i have the 4 or 5 inch trackball for the game. that's what i meant by dedicated cabinet. i have one of the rare wooden ones.

The trackball I have here has a small IC chip on it that "squares up" the signals coming from the opto sensors.

that is what i am talking about. its really a small board. says sensor pc on it. there is a black piece that the wheel rotates in. i cleaned it and it doesn;t look liek there is anythign wrong with it but it won;t work.

Switch connectors from the left to right board to the up and down board to see if it works. If it does not. Post a pic and I have a replacement board.

Opto board

This is one from a Dedicated Capcom Bowling with the 4" TB. It is layed out differently but I think it will work. The connector is the same and the game PCBs are the same. I have 2 that I tested and they both work. Just let me know.
