I just recently purchased a Blitz 99 dedicated cab for $200, everything is working just fine except for the joysticks. When I go into the service menu, the cursor continuesly scrolls through the options. Therfore I cannot make any adjustments to anything. I've only been into this hobby for about a year, so I'm not too sure what to make of it, as far as troubleshooting is concerned. Can anybody help? Maybe new complete 4 player wiring harnesses?

I'll have to try that tomorrow when I get home from work.....I'll report back then. Thaks for you input! :)

Well it's not the dipswitches, I just checked. The guy I bought it from said that he was told that the joysticks were not receiving the 12 volts....idk?

Ok give the info lostgold has provided a shot. All joysticks actually control the test menu so try to find out which one it is. You could have a bad I40 board?

Then again, i'm far from an expert..

Well I tried unplugging one at a time, but no such luck. I actually have an additional I-40 board that I got from the seller....and it still does it with both boards. Im no expert either, but my guess is the 1-4 player harnesses.

On a side note, would it be possible to to use 8-way joysticks? New player harnesses with quick connects like other Midway cabinets?

Change the sticks out to 8-way and change the dipswitch, unless you really want the 49-way ones.

I just fixed a joystick issue on a Showtime NBA on NBC/NFL Blitz 2000 that had none of the 4 optical joysticks working even with the joystick set properly. At first I thought the problem was going to be the little controller board mounted under the control panel that all the joysticks plugged into, but it turned out to be a bad PCB in the main Vegas set (the one with the JAMMA connector and the Boot ROM). I swapped in another PCB and the joysticks started working.

Just saying that it might not be the joysticks...

That's what I would like to do, I've never been a big fan of the 49way sticks anyways. They just feel "fake".
My question is: The 49 way sticks are connected by a molex connector that runs to an I-40 board, then to the jamma connector.....the 8way are connected via quick connectors and do not require the I-40. With that said, and I'm sure you are aware of all that....this may sound stupid but how would I go about switching everything? As far as connectors are concerned?

Id test it with a known working board and isolate the problem before you start modifying it for 8way joys.

Have you played blitz w 49way joys? I personally prefer it this way.

I'll have to try that....I have a working Blitz 2000 Gold I can try in there.

Well I got them to work......intermittently. Under the control panel, there's a bracket with a fuse inside it with two set if red wires connected on each end with quick connectors....anyway, when I jostle the wires it starts acting up again. Hmmm.....any thoughts in that anyone?

Mine needed the fuse clip pinched in a bit on one end as it was a bit loose on the fuse....

Well, whether I get them working or not, I might just convert over to 8way anyhow....eventually wanna put a 2 in 1 switcher in it and include NBA Jam TE. :)

HOORAY!!! They work perfect now! It was indeed the fuse under the control panel that wasn't getting a proper connection....pinched it together tight and BLAMMO! WINNING! Thanks everyone for all of your input!! Especially modessitt....thanks for the tip bud!

One last thing here....I can't seem to get it from 2 player to 4 player. I changed the setting on the dip switch bank and it's still on 2 player mode....anyone?????
