from the historic duke of lancester ship raid i aquired a data east deco tomahawk 777 cabinet!

as you can see it is still in great cosmetic condition (apart from rust on the metal parts)

my idea is to turn this into a multi-deco system cabinet, but i don't even know if this is possible with that type of deco cabinet. unfortunately, the site which used to have all the information seems to be down (www.widel.com), so i need your help.

can you turn a tomahawk 777 into a multi-deco system or does it have to be one of those cabinets using the cassette system? i don't have the cabinet here with me yet, but from what i know tomahawk 777 doesn't feature cassettes at all, only pcbs.

any type of input / information is greatly appreciated!

one more thing while i'm at it: does anyone have a spare overlay like the one seen on the pictures? because of the rust, the metal parts have to be powdercoated and therefore i need to remove the overlay ...

does it have a deco boardset in it(board cage and dongle)? If not, I could gut a cab and send you all the wiring and boards.

But the real question is can you still get the multi deco kit.. I would lock that down before you go and commit yourself to the conversion.

I had a kit and sold it to a good friend thinking I'd never find a worthy cab, doh! If I remember correctly it was to replace all the tapes and dongles...Exidy had one set up I think? I emailed Dave Widel about making another run and I got the impression that he is super busy and has moved on, so no luck there. You'd have to pry one from the 10 or 12 people that actually bought one ages ago.

That cab is my favorite DECO, hang on to it, get it working and see what the future brings!

Been trying to get a DECO multi for a year and a half now....

Same here. I think it didn't get much interest in the first run and the designer has gone on to other things, so for what little I've gathered there's not much chance of another batch.

I think I heard rumors of someone working on a solid state replacement for the tapes (thank god), but I don't know if that's going to be just for single games or a multi.

As soon as I saw the pictures I thought that was too cool for an American cab, scrolled back and I was right. Very nice looking game.

thx for the offer, but as i've said i don't know yet what's inside the cab. i was told it is complete, but who knows ... i might take you up on your offer though, if only for the boards, because who knows what 30 years of salty sea air have done to the electronics. do you have a working boardset?

as for the multi thing: i know that trying to get a multi deco is a long shot, but i wanted to find out first whether this cabinet is even convertable. who knows, i might find a multi deco and realize then i can't use it in my cab - would be a bummer, wouldn't it?

Here is my Burgertime.

Aren't these Deco cabinets just beautiful! :)

well, I don't think tomahak 777 is deco. Klov says its unique and its not listed as deco.

But the cab is pretty close.. I have a kit deco in a tempest cab I can gut. It was working except for the tape player. I can send you the wiring harness if you want to go that route..

I also have the same deco burgertime as SRW. I plan to keep it with the deco multikit.
