I went to look at this today, cab is kinda rough sideart is there for most part. CP seems good, guy says a button doesent work and the sound isnt working. The sound board is there but I never noticed whether the pot was there or not. Marquee wasnt great either. Reason I ask is the guy wants $200(crazy right) but my stepdad is looking for a starter cab and I was wondering what you guys think I/he should offer for it. There isnt alot in our area so this defeats the usual $50 gas money I would usually spend to go to MPLS. Any thoughts? Thanks all!!!!!

I think I'd pass altogether on that one...
If sound and a button aren't working and the previous owner didn't take the time to fix it, it usually indicates a problem with the PCB. It's the same old bait and switch tactic used by many others ("It worked when I last plugged it in a year ago...I'm sure it's something simple").

If you picked it up for $50, I think you'd be doing ok if the monitor is good as at the worst you'll have to pick up a new MK1 PCB, but there isn't much you can do about the ugly conversion. Though I suppose you could always convert it back into the Robotron it likely once was :D

That's not a dedicated unit, and with those problems I'd pass on it. If it was a good dedicated Midway cab, then it would be worth considering, but it's not.

sound problem can be an easy/cheap fix (couple cables/volume pot, or replacement board $20-30 shipped).

That's not a dedicated cab, can't tell if it's a 25" monitor, but if it is that's worth $150 if it's in good working condition with 0 burn.

Personally i'm not sure if i'd pay that price but money tends to burn a hole in my pocket and i can see some use in what's there.

i'll agree, for that price if it were dedicated it'd be worth at least thinking about but for conversion no way.

i know cabs aren't plentiful everywhere but sometimes you can find great deals if you just wait... i got my dedicated MK not working for $50. just needed a power supply and a bit of love and it plays great and looks pretty decent.

thanks for all the replies. This guy has it in his garage and doesent know a lick about it. Trust me I can tell. I figured $50 would be fair enough. Not sure it was a 25 in or not, probably19-20. The switch on the button is shot, The volume probably got turned down for all I know, I didnt want to fix his problems for him then. Would a sound board from NBA JAM work? I have a dead NBA Jam PCB so the sound board just sits, figured it was midway.... THANKS AGAIN everyone!!

i looked a little closer at the pic and i'm pretty sure that's a 19"

Yes you can use a NBA Jam sound board, you'll have to swap the roms over that's all. I'm willing to bet it's the volume pot or a connector that's not attached.

50 bucks would be a decent offer.

The switch on the button is easy, and cheap, as far as the sound goes...

If it has the sound board in it, then I would do the following.

Check the interconnect wiring, and the ribbon cable, make sure the ribbon cable is on correctly.

Check the pot, go to radioshack buy a new pot and try that if that doesn't work, you are out 3 bucks and 7 minutes.

If during the ROM check none are coming up RED, then try swapping the ROMS over to your NBA jam sounds board and try that.

50 bucks, maybe an hour of your time, and maybe 4 bucks to fully test the sound issue.

Then you have a working/GREAT GAME! Worst case scenario the cab is in absolute shit shape you can usually sell MK boards for $50.00, so you are out next to nothing but some time and the aggravation of getting rid of a cab.

Yeah, I sent him an offer of $50. Told him I am in no hurry and that the offer stands. I will probably get a phone call next week saying to come get it. Thanks alot for all for the advice, this is a great forum
