Well, there doesnt seem to be a lot of explanation out there on the Black Knight board....at least I havent found it. For example, what are the DIP switches for?

I picked up a black knight pinball. It has some power issues, namely that it does not have a system 7 power supply in it. It has a system 6, and the +100V leg doesnt work. I think the transistors are bad on this leg. I ordered a new power board.

So, I wanted to test the sound card for now, since it has its own supply. My sound board has the voice board on the left side of it. When I push the diagnostic button on my sound board, it indeed makes sound effects. However, it only makes sound effects, and no voices. It actually plays 3 successive sounds in a continuous loop.

Can anyone explain this? Are all the sounds on the main board, and the voices on the board to the left? If this is true, I assume that my voice board is not working. But, I am in doubt that the main board only has 3 sounds.

I have reflowed all the joints on both the sound boards. I have not tried to re-seat the ribbon cable between the two boards yet.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

DIP 2 is pushed in on the right, and DIP 1 is pushed down on the left.

Ok, I think I got it figured out. DIP 2 must be pushed in on the left side to get the speech activated. DIP 1 can be either way. I have it depressed to the left too.

I also reseated and wiggled the ribbon cable....I have SPEECH NOW!

Can anyone verify...

I only have THREE sound effects when I test with the diagnostic button.

After this, the game goes through all of the speech vocabulary listed in the manual.

So, the speech is testing properly, but I dont know about the sound effects, as the manual only says "several" and I only hear what I would say is three different sounds.
