Thought I would share the progress made on my Exidy Death Race thus far.
First a few things - I have a different control panel with the correct speaker grills on it - I just used this one to get the right fit ect. Also the front door (in the pics) is just set in there and I realized after the pictures that I put the door in upside down... so yes that will be corrected too... these are just a few pics to show the progress...

Re:

That is awesome! Can you tell us how you cut the wood, did you CNC it?

You're on a roll!

I've always wondered if I had to reproduce a cab, would I make just one or would I make another while I was at it. It seems like it wouldn't take too much more work to knock another one out, but finding the parts to complete it would be tough.

Don't let this cab fool ya - this was a LOT of hours invested. If it was as simple as just cutting the sides that would be one thing - but there is a ton of stuff to keep this thing as original as possible.
The bottom pedal box assembly was very complex. I am really looking forward to completing this project.

If I had only one or two B&W games to own, this would be one of them, the other would be Atari's Fire Truck!

Thanks all...
I have a source for the side art... but not yet for the front door art.. so any ideas on that would be welcomed!
I promise I will keep pictures coming on this bad boy... dont even know if the board works or not (probably not) but this is one game that is worth the hard work and the money!

UPDATE 10-Jan-2010

Painted my cabinet - getting it ready for the new Death Race reproduction art...
I still need to paint the white (the white you see is the primer) but the black is all done.

The death race kickplate art is on it's way to me with the sideart to follow soon!

We opted not to do that coloration to save costs in order to make the project doable at all :( Not every death race had it so it's not technically wrong.

yeah that's cool with me - I was just asking. There is SO LITTLE information on these babies out there. There was a few variations of the cabinet colors as well as some other minor differences. Either way I am so excited to see this being reproduced... its gonna be an awesome game when I finish restoring it
