I know some of you have followed the progress of my Death Race restoration... well I am happy to say that it is 98% done. (there is one small tick in the board yet)
Today for the first time in nearly 2 years - I played a game of Death Race on my machine.

When I found her - she was just a pile of junk - but today she lives on! Thanks to Alex Yekley, DJDNS, DON1400, EXIDY, CHRIS25810, MUDMANTIM, WISHBRINGER, RIKITIKI and PROK... here it is.

Phenomenal restoration!

Do you have a list of what's original, and what had to be replaced?

It was a major project... I really tried to keep as much original as I possibly could. The cabinet was rebuilt using as many of the original parts as possible. The pedal box on the bottom was totally destroyed and waterlogged - It was rebuilt. New springs were added = pedals were sandblasted and refinished. Monitor was rebuilt. Plexis were cleaned up with Novus. The paint was matched and artwork reproduced by Rich and Brian. The CPO was reproduced and steering wheel assembly rebuilt. New hardware where it needed it. Coin Door slot was grabbed from another KLOV member (cant remember who now).
Alex fixed the board (might still have a small tick - trying to figure that out yet)
This baby has been gone through with a fine tooth comb - you wont find a nicer one - well at least not in Wisconsin!

it really is - It turned out very nice... Chris, Don and I all have the same standards when it comes to restorations - but with 90-100 games in my collection - it gets expensive. This is why my EDOT is still not restored!

Gameplay is fun for sure - how can it not be? you run people over and they scream when you do haha

INCREDIBLE work - a brilliant example of what time and dedication (and money) can do. of course, all that would not have been possible with the reproduction parts from brian and rich - thx guys! this will inspire my restoration for sure ...

Wow you did an exellent job on that cab! I'm a big Exidy fan and that's one of my favorite backglasses
